Playing football is a wonderful pastime and sport for many children and adults alike. Exercising outdoors with a team is a great balance to everyday life. Of course, the goalkeeper is very important in this sport. Anyone looking to attend professional training in this area is in good hands with the Goalkeeper School in Gänserndorf by Christian Weber. Christian Weber began playing football at an early age and was also active in a senior team. Unfortunately, this ended after a bad knee injury. It was only through his children that he became active in football and coaching again, and he now offers versatile training for every age group.
Goalkeeper School in Gänserndorf – Christian Weber

With the Goalkeeper School in Gänserndorf, Christian Weber offers the following training sessions:
- Children's training up to 12 years
- Youth training 12 to 17 years
- Adult training
Children's training up to 12 years
In this training, children perform exercises tailored to their age. Especially at a young age, techniques are passed on in a playful way. This is how children learn proper catching and the correct movement sequences with a portion of fun. The children always train in groups, because children often learn more easily from each other than just from the coach. At the Christian Weber Goalkeeper School, children are not only trained for a 'fixed position', but also to be able to play both on the field and in goal. Through the various sequences, the musculoskeletal system is challenged in different ways, and the child develops into a more complete player more quickly. Furthermore, the children learn how to behave as a field player in certain situations and can therefore more easily anticipate where a striker's movement will go later as a goalkeeper.
Youth training 12 to 17 years
With physical growth and the development of the neuromuscular system during adolescence, strength and muscle building increase naturally. That is why it only makes sense to start developing strengthening and endurance units in this phase. These are sustainably effective and form the basis for the further development of a modern goalkeeper. Increasing body awareness, as well as the further development of motor and sensory skills, also enables the effective training of coordinative exercises and the implementation of tactical positioning. In addition, the refinement of technique and the correct implementation of movement sequences are of course also further promoted at this age.
Adult training
In adult training, a maximum of 4 goalkeepers train in a group. Care is also taken to ensure that skill levels do not differ too much. The training sequence consists of 3 parts: preparation, main part, and conclusion. In the preparation, video analyses of the previous training are discussed. These help to visualize the goalkeeper's weaknesses and strengths and to accelerate the change process. This is followed by a warm-up for the main part of the training. This part of the training aims at technique, tactics, coordination, and strength through a wide variety of exercises. These exercises are always tailored to the agreed training goals. The training is rounded off with various loosening exercises, cooling down, and stretching. In addition, there is direct reflection on the training as well as a discussion of points for the next session.
Information about goalkeeper coach Christian Weber
Christian Weber began playing football very early and was quite successful as a field player in various state selections until he was 12 years old. Then, the position of the regular goalkeeper suddenly became vacant and Christian Weber took over. In the senior team, Christian Weber trained together with Georg Heu (Managing Director Keepersport) and Hans Leitert (Head of Goalkeeping Development, Red Bull Global Soccer) and was able to take a great deal away from this time.
He played for about 2 years in the senior team of VfB Mödling and then at SC Perchtoldsdorf in the state league. A serious knee injury forced Christian Weber to end his professional football career in his mid-20s. Through his 2 sons, he came back into contact with football and discovered his coaching career. He enjoyed working with children very much, so he decided to pass on his knowledge in the goalkeeper school. Through his experience as an active goalkeeper in the second-highest Austrian league, he knows the life of a goalkeeper very well and is also aware of the difficulties. His protégés can thus be strengthened and further developed not only technically but also mentally as personalities.
