The due date is getting closer and closer, and it's time to start thinking about what to pack in your Hospital bag and take to the hospital. But what should you take? You don't want to arrive with big bags and suitcases, only to find you don't need half of it anyway. I must add that I had a C-section and therefore probably needed different things than someone who gives birth and might be able to go home the next day. It was clear to me that I would have to stay longer because of the twins and might even have to stay in the neonatology ward.
Contents of my hospital bag
- Pajamas (only for the one night before the C-section, but still)
- Sweatpants (I needed them in the neonatology ward, you get tired of hospital gowns)
- 3 T-shirts
- Slippers
- 3 pairs of socks
- Bathrobe
- Mobile phone
- Charging cable for the mobile phone
- Camera
- Charging cable for the camera
- Memory cards
- Small snacks, such as trail mix, dextrose, breadsticks, pretzels
- Chocolate (!)
- Mineral water
- List of phone numbers of friends for the text message with the happy news, so no one is forgotten (another option is to give the list to your siblings/parents/best friends, then you only need to inform one person and they send the message to everyone else) – my husband did that for us!
Contents of my toiletry bag
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Deodorant
- Shampoo
- Shower gel (one without fragrances!)
- Wet wipes
- Razor
- Nipple cream (I can recommend Lansinoh!) although I also received some at the hospital
Of course, I had a lot more with me, but these are the only things I really needed. It's clear that everyone has different preferences and will leave one thing or another out or add something. It's meant to be a rough guide; I searched and Googled for a long time back then and repacked my bag a few times. Well, and then my husband still had to bring me more things later.
I would be grateful for further tips or comments; this list is intended to be a help for all expectant moms!
