Usually, you grease the cake pan and then dust it with flour, distribute it properly, and the cake can be put in. The reason is clear: the cake should be easy to remove from the pan after baking. But if too much flour is used, it will still stick to the cake after baking. However, there are many tasty ways to dust the baking pan instead of using flour; we have collected the best ones here:

What can be used to dust the cake pan?

After greasing, you can use various things so that the pastry is not destroyed after turning it out. You should just make sure that the substitute harmonizes with the baked good.

Alternatives to flour:

  • Semolina or rolled oats
  • Coconut flakes
  • Cocoa
  • Ground nuts
  • Ground rusk
  • Sugar
  • Ground cornflakes (give an excellently crispy edge)
  • Crumbled cookies
  • A ground bread roll

How do I properly turn the cake out of the baking pan?

After baking, leave the cake in the pan until it cools down. Why not turn it out immediately? It can easily happen that the cake breaks. If the pastry cools down sufficiently, however, it gains a little stability. If the cake simply won't come out of the pan, wrap a damp cloth around the baking pan; the moisture helps the cake slide out better.
