Years of use, dirt, and even sunlight can be responsible for the once-vibrant colors of a carpet gradually fading. Of course, you could buy a new carpet, but with a few simple tricks, it is just as possible to refresh your good old Persian rug or mat.
How to refresh carpet colors
Tip 1: Salt
To refresh the color of the carpet a little, there is a simple tip: sprinkle damp salt on the carpet. Let it dry and then vacuum it up.
Tip 2: Vinegar
Lukewarm vinegar can certainly help restore a carpet's colors to their former glory. Simply mix one part lukewarm vinegar with three parts water, apply it to the carpet with a sponge, and distribute it well. Then, let the carpet dry completely before walking on it.
Tip 3: Soft soap foam
Often, it is just a gray film that is to blame for dull colors on carpets. To remove this gray film, you can use soft soap foam. Simply pick up the foam with a sponge and work it thoroughly into the carpet. Admittedly, it is an exhausting method, but it will make your beloved carpet look almost new again.
Tip 4: Detergent
For both new and old stains, you can refresh your carpet with this tip. Simply
- 3 tablespoons of detergent
- 3 tablespoons of vinegar
- 1 liter of warm water
mix them together and rub the stains vigorously. Afterward, the stain treatment must dry completely before you walk on the carpet again. If necessary, the treatment can be repeated.
