Well-groomed woman - hair-free thanks to Halawa hair removal paste

In the Orient, hair removal is very common and is performed with sugar paste 'Halawa'. This hair removal method works like wax removal does for us, and the hair only grows back after some time. The disadvantage is that it is also quite painful, but you save yourself from buying expensive wax. To make this sugar paste yourself, we have the recipe here:

Recipe for DIY Halawa hair removal paste

Recipe and instructions for removing unwanted body hair with a homemade Halawa hair removal paste:

What you’ll need:

  • 100 g sugar
  • 30 ml lemon juice
  • 10 ml water
  • Spatula
  • Cotton cloth (preferably fabric strips)
  • Ice or cooling gel or cream (alcohol-free!) e.g., Aloe Vera gel

Instructions:

Mix the sugar, lemon juice, and water and heat it to approx. 40°C. Then apply it directly to the desired skin areas with a spatula and place the cotton cloth on top. Then, it is best to pull the fabric strip off very quickly and flat against the direction of hair growth. To alleviate the pain afterwards, apply ice immediately or apply cooling gels or creams (alcohol-free!). An Aloe Vera gel, for example, is highly recommended because it cools nicely.

Extra tip: Those with sensitive skin can dust the skin with a little powder before application.
