Table decoration - Ethnic style

Enjoying social gatherings and delicious food from distant lands is like a mini-vacation for me. To make everything fit together, why not decorate your table in an ethnic style for a change and conjure up Latin American delicacies and drinks? Here are a few ideas for a Latin American table decoration:

The basic elements for this table decoration are natural materials and many bright colors.

Instructions: Table decoration in ethnic style

What you need for this:

  • Tablecloth in brown or placemats made of natural materials
  • Tableware (feel free to use colorful and wildly patterned)
  • Napkins (solid color)
  • Plants: Cacti, Calathea crocata or Guzmania
  • possibly fruit: physalis, passion fruit or tamarillos
  • possibly green bottles, or Latin American liquor bottles
  • possibly South American travel souvenirs

Table decoration in ethnic look

The table

The Tablecloth is rather superfluous; the decoration looks much better if you use a darker wooden table. If the table is a different color, a brown tablecloth or placemats made of natural materials can be used.

The tableware

The Tableware can be very colorful and wildly patterned. Keep the napkins solid-colored and tie them nicely with a ribbon made of natural raffia, for example.

The center of the table

The Center of the table should be an eye-catcher and can be designed with any accessories. Cacti in terracotta pots are suitable as plants, or if you prefer something flowering, you can place a Calathea crocata or Guzmania on the table. In addition, a few exotic fruits distributed on the table look very good: for example, physalis look very decorative, as do passion fruits or tamarillos.

Furthermore, the ethnic table can be given a special touch with colored bottles (e.g., in green) or Latin American spirits (some tequila bottles are very decorative). If you even have a few travel souvenirs from South America, you can distribute them on the table, which looks particularly good.

Once everything is arranged, you can move on to the cozy part; why not have a tequila or caipirinha right away?
