Rusty stains never look nice on knives, and yet it can happen that these stains even appear on very expensive knives appear. Annoying, but you have to ask yourself why the rust spots appear and what the reasons for their formation are?
Easily remove rusty stains
Grease
Overzealous cleaning can unfortunately also lead to rust deposits: if, for example, you have only cut bacon with a good knife, then a simple cleaning with a paper towel is enough. After all, a little grease cannot harm any knife, and its function and cutting power are in no way impaired by it.
Onion
Stick a few times into a large Onion, to remove the rusty spots from knife to remove.
Polishing cork
If rust has unfortunately appeared after all, then polishing cork is an insider tip. To do this, rub the blade of the rusty knives with the cork and dip the knife alternately in chalk and water. Finally, polish the knife with a lint-free cloth.
Lighter fluid
Alternatively, rust stains can also be rubbed away very well with Lighter fluid rub away.
Cola
Cola is also said to be a useful aid: simply place the knife in a glass of cola and let it rest for a while. Apparently the acid is the solution to the puzzle, because the rust gives way in the cola and can then be wiped off effortlessly – it is definitely worth a try.
Salt
Do knife blades have stubborn stains that do not come off when washed? Then sprinkle some salt on the edge and rub it with a moistened cork.
Prevent rusty stains
Most of the time, you yourself are to blame for the mishap. Good knives, for example, should always be cleaned by hand and never put in the dishwasher. But storage can also be a major cause of rusty spots. Often the knives lie in drawers together with other knives – much better for good knives is a solid wooden knife block, a knife bag or quite simply: wrap knives in bread paper.
Another tip against rust forming on knife blades: anyone who does not want to do without cleaning in the dishwasher should simply a few aluminum balls (simply roll small balls out of aluminum foil) put them in the cutlery basket of the dishwasher and wash them along with the dishes. Once the balls become dull, they are removed and replaced with new ones.
