In the video for the 3rd week of pregnancy (WOP 3) on meinhaushalt.at important information and tips for pregnancy in week 3 are presented.
When life finds a way, a true little miracle takes place in the female body: the Pregnancy. After sexual intercourse, around 100-500 million sperm set off on the arduous search through the cervix up the Uterus to the egg cell in order to fertilize it. However, only a single sperm will win this battle – once it has entered the egg cell, access for other sperm is blocked. Here, a viable cell begins to form from the two sets of chromosomes from the egg and sperm. Just 24 hours after fertilization, the early form of the placenta and the amniotic sac are formed.
The 3rd week of pregnancy
The fertilized egg is now in the fallopian tube for three days and slowly migrates from there to the uterus. On this path, the egg is driven in the right direction by millions of cilia. During these three days, several cell divisions take place and the corpus luteum hormone is released, which leads to the loosening of the uterine lining. Once the egg has reached the uterus, it has passed the first critical phase. Now the egg looks for a suitable place in the uterus where it can implant itself. The lining of the uterus is already well prepared for this task, yet the egg usually needs several days until it has found a suitable place. Between the 6th and 7th day after fertilization, implantation has occurred; up to this point, the formation of twins is also possible. The fertilized egg has now reached a size of an estimated 0.2 millimeters.
When this process is completed, the expectant mother is already in the 3rd week of pregnancy. The Pregnancy correctly begins with the first day of the last period, since the fertile days appear approximately fourteen days after the period. Therefore, all these days between the period and the implantation of the fertilized egg are included.
Many women already feel the hormonal shift that a pregnancy brings with it through fatigue, morning sickness, or circulatory problems. For some women, the breasts begin to become more sensitive and sometimes the sense of smell also changes and they perceive odors more intensely than before the start of pregnancy. Even before pregnancy, for the sake of the child and one's own safety, nicotine and alcohol consumption should be avoided in order not to endanger both the physical and mental health of the unborn child.
Your baby is growing
Although not much can be seen with an ultrasound device yet, the embryo's little heart begins to beat towards the end of the 3rd week of pregnancy. The unborn child is usually referred to as an embryo until the internal organs are formed from the 9th week of pregnancy, after which it is generally referred to as a fetus. From the 5th week of pregnancy, this tiny heart begins to work at approximately 150 beats per minute – this is about twice as fast as the expectant mother's heart beats per minute. Now the development of the little living being also begins: important organs are laid out and develop.
The incomparable and intimate relationship between mother and child begins already now.
In the next 260 days until birth, they will not only share oxygen and food, but also experience all emotions together. In the safe womb, the child feels early on how the mother's affection grows from day to day, feels the gentle stroking of the belly, and will eventually respond with light kicks. The miracle takes place quietly and secretly in the first few weeks – only the mother and the child know the secret. But it will not be long before the well-protected secret will also be visible to the outside world.
