In the video for the 8th week of pregnancy (week 8) on meinhaushalt.at presents important information and tips for pregnancy in week 8.
You are now in the 8th week of pregnancy; your child is now five weeks old and has a crown-rump length of approx. 12 mm to 14 mm. The embryo is now about the size of a bean or a grape and is developing well and on schedule. Its weight is now almost 3 g and there is still a long way to go. A small opening is slowly developing, which will later form the mouth, along with two tiny nostrils. The brain is also developing rapidly and all organs are in place.
Of course, these organs are not yet fully developed and the little child is not ready for life outside the womb – but nature finds its way and ensures that the embryo continues to grow day by day. Even from the arm and leg buds, small arms are slowly emerging, which now resemble tiny paddles. The mother notices little of the strain on her body. The Pregnancy continues silently, only the hormones are going crazy.
The baby in the 8th week
You don't need to worry about the child in your womb. The embryo floats weightlessly in the amniotic fluid, so that the sensitive organs and tissue of the embryo are completely protected against shocks and pressure. The placenta provides the necessary transport of protein, fat, and sugar via the bloodstream for the unstoppable cell growth and oxygen supply to the child. The amniotic fluid has a constant temperature of approx. 37.5 degrees, so the child feels comfortably warm. Your child's little heart now beats about 130 to 160 times per minute.
Bleeding gums
Some women have during the pregnancy gum bleeding when brushing their teeth. Don't worry about this either: this is due to the changed hormone level. A good recommendation is to brush with a soft toothbrush to protect the gums. As a precaution, you can also visit your dentist, who can give you good tips on dental care during pregnancy. It is highly advisable to have a dental check-up at least once during pregnancy anyway.
First communication with the baby
You probably already have a small bump, but even if no bump is noticeable yet, don't be afraid to share your emotions, words, and feelings with the baby. Communication between mother and child is already established, so it can never be too early to talk to the child, share loving thoughts with the unborn child, and place your hand on your abdomen. Your child will undoubtedly perceive these emotions through the mother's bloodstream.
Sex and sports during pregnancy
Many expectant parents are sometimes afraid to be intimate – go ahead and do it. Nothing will happen to your child, and it is safely protected in the amniotic sac. Now everything that is fun and enjoyable is allowed. Feel free to try things out; as long as you don't feel any pain or it is uncomfortable for you, you can continue to exchange tenderness with your partner. Pregnancy is therefore no reason to give up anything.
You can also continue to be active in terms of sports. However, avoid sports that involve a lot of jumping. Cycling, Nordic walking, swimming, and running are allowed and will not harm you in any way. However, don't forget to drink, as your metabolism is higher during pregnancy. Mineral water, juices, teas, and juice spritzers are particularly suitable here. Avoid coffee and black teas – these affect the water balance and are real iron killers.
