Shoes

Every woman knows the problem: there are plenty of shoes for every occasion and every season, but where to put the summer shoes in winter? I don't have enough space for shoe racks, which are also expensive. And how do I quickly find the right shoes? In this article, I would like to suggest a few ideas for shoe storage systems.

Tips and information on how to store shoes correctly

Be careful when storing shoes!

However, you should never make the mistake of stacking shoes on top of each other – this deforms the shoes and leaves unsightly dents. With patent leather and leather shoes, there is even a risk that the footwear will be scratched. So: never stack them on top of each other without a cover.

Furthermore, it is not advisable to store footwear in plastic bags. Moisture can lead to mold here, as plastic bags are naturally airtight. Consequently, the shoes are hopelessly lost. They begin to smell unpleasant and, in the worst case, show mildew stains. Small fabric bags are recommended instead – here the shoes can be stored in pairs and, above all, can breathe.

Small tip: don't forget cleaning! Shoes must be cleaned before any storage. Whether stains, dirt, or wetness – shoes will thank you if they are thoroughly cleaned before being put away.

  • Adhesive

Simply take a few shoe boxes and cut a viewing window on the side that will be at the front. Glue a piece of transparent film (from a craft or stationery store) into the window. This way, you can see at a glance which shoes are hiding in which box. And it also feels good to just be able to look at them every now and then – shoes are just something wonderful.

With this storage system, you will always easily find the right shoes. Line up the shoes and take photos of them. Print out the photos or have them developed. Now pack the shoes into the boxes and stick the photo on the front. Thanks to this marking, you can easily stack the boxes in the closet and find them again very quickly.

  • Thick felt-tip pen

This method is the fastest version. The shoe boxes are simply labeled on the front with a felt-tip pen in a sensible and legible way. You can also do this in between times as a transition to the other storage methods.

Shoe storage options in stores

Practical shoe organizers, which can be hung on doors or closet walls, offer an excellent solution and also allow the shoes to breathe in the open protective covers.

Furthermore, under-bed storage units with breathable fleece offer a useful alternative.
