Pregnancy tips

In the video for the 10th week of pregnancy on meinhaushalt.at important information and tips for pregnancy in week 10 are presented.

You have now reached the 10th week of pregnancy and your child is now seven weeks old. All important organs have been formed, but will be repeatedly shifted over the next few months as they grow. From now on, the risk of serious malformations or miscarriages is at least reduced. The embryo has now become a fetus that has successfully passed through several stages in the last few weeks. From a tiny egg cell and a sperm, a small living being has emerged that is now trying to move its arms and legs. The eyes are still wide open and not yet covered by eyelids.

While at the beginning of the 9th week of pregnancy the fingers on both hands were only slightly visible and connected by a kind of webbing, the little fingers have now separated from each other and become longer. Towards the end of the 10th week of pregnancy, the toes will also no longer be connected to each other. The arms and legs are also continuing to form and can be bent slowly. Meanwhile, your child's external genitalia have also been formed, but there are no differences yet to distinguish whether it is a girl or a boy. However, this will change in the coming weeks.

Ultrasound examinations during pregnancy

During Pregnancy several ultrasounds are performed – during one of the first screenings, a nuchal translucency scan is also carried out, provided the child cooperates. The measurement should ideally be carried out between the 11th and 14th week of pregnancy. This procedure allows for the early detection of disorders, malformations, or heart defects.

The second maternity check-up is now also carried out between the 9th and 12th week of pregnancy. It is very important during pregnancy to follow up on the individual examinations so that the health of mother and child can be monitored and promoted. Ultrasound is again crucial for this examination, but weight is also checked, blood pressure is measured, and a urine sample is taken.

Nausea and dizziness

Are you still suffering from nausea or dizziness? Although these are not uncommon in a pregnancy , they can vary from woman to woman. If the symptoms do not improve significantly, you should definitely talk to your doctor. They will be happy to help you with tips or recommend special preparations.

Proper Nutrition

Nutrition plays a very important role from now on. For the sake of your child, it is better to avoid unhealthy indulgences such as alcohol or cigarettes. Pregnancy is now not only about your personal well-being, but also that of the child slowly growing in your belly. The baby gets everything it needs for its development from the mother's bloodstream. However, it can only take what it finds in the mother – if certain vitamins or nutrients are missing, the child will also suffer a deficiency. Therefore, make sure to have a healthy and balanced diet. Of course, you are allowed to sin and snack occasionally, but you should consume plenty of mineral water, teas, and juices as well as juice spritzers, fiber, and plenty of vitamins. Fresh fruit and vegetables are best for this. A healthy amount of protein, vitamin B, C, D, folic acid, fat, carbohydrates, and trace elements is very helpful now.

Basically, you can eat anything you like, so a varied menu is highly recommended. Consume about 3 portions of fruit and vegetables. Potatoes, cereal flakes, and whole-grain bread combined with milk or other dairy products are also good for this. Eat meat and sausage about 3 times a week, as well as eggs and fish once or twice a week. Fat and sweets, on the other hand, should be used more sparingly. If you cook with oils, use rapeseed or olive oil, as these are healthier.

Unfortunately, you must avoid offal, raw milk, raw eggs, raw sausage such as salami or ham, and raw meat or fish throughout the entire pregnancy, as this is harmful to your child's development.
