Butter

Coughing is a very annoying ailment, but it is necessary so that the mucus can be coughed up. Anyone who does not want to reach for medication immediately should try a butter compress. For older people and also for children, this can have a good supportive effect. The compress helps with all congestion of the bronchi, with bronchitis, and can even contribute to recovery in cases of pneumonia.

Butter compress – help for coughs

What is needed

  • Butter
  • Linen cloth, large towel, or cloth diaper

Instructions

The butter is cut into thin strips and placed on the chest. Then a linen cloth or a towel (depending on the size of the child) is wrapped around it, in such a way that the entire chest is wrapped, including the back. Now the sick child puts on their pajamas and goes to bed. Overnight, the butter dissolves and is absorbed. This loosens the mucus and it can be easily coughed up. The next day, or after a nap, simply wash off the butter with warm water.

However, you should not rely solely on this treatment, because if the cough gets worse, see a doctor immediately.
