Cabbage is very healthy and contains vitamins such as vitamin C, B, as well as folic acid, potassium, calcium, plus iron and plenty of dietary fiber and secondary plant compounds. They help strengthen the natural immune system and can help reduce the risk of cancer. We have collected many tips here for preparing cabbage vegetables yourself:

Cabbage becomes more digestible

To make most cabbage varieties and legumes more digestible, it helps to Baking soda. When cooking, add 1 tsp baking soda per 1 L of water. A great additional effect is that the vegetables cook faster, and some (especially green!) vegetables also retain their color.

Just do not use it for red cabbage, use Vinegar instead.

Taming cabbage leaves

To make the thick ribs of the cabbage leaves easier to roll for cabbage rolls, simply flatten the blanched leaves with a rolling pin. Then rolling them up is child's play!

Eliminating cabbage smell

Cabbage is healthy, but the smell that spreads throughout the whole house is rather off-putting when it comes to cooking it! But there is a simple trick here: Add a slice of white bread or a dash of vinegar to the cooking pot, then the smell will be reduced!
