Refrigerator

Unpleasant odors can quickly develop in the refrigerator because various items are stored there. Of course, it can happen that something spoils in the refrigerator and the whole refrigerator stinks afterwards. However, odors can not only develop in the refrigerator, but also tend to form everywhere in the home. Especially if there was fish or cabbage for lunch, the scents travel from the kitchen through the living room into the bedrooms. With a few tricks, however, you can get the air clean again.

Eliminate odors in the refrigerator

Baking soda or baking powder

If the refrigerator stinks, you can eliminate this odor very quickly with baking soda. Simply set up a small bowl with some baking soda; baking soda binds the odors. Baking soda is contained in Baking powder, so a small plate with baking powder can also be used to eliminate odors.

Soap

Grate a few shavings from a bar of soap and fill them into a coffee filter. Seal it tightly, preferably by stapling it so they cannot fall out, and place it in the refrigerator. It will smell better immediately.

Eliminate odors in the kitchen

Ventilate well

As soon as you cook, you should turn on the extractor hood so that the odors disappear immediately. If strong odors arise, such as with cabbage, cauliflower, or breaded food, open the window as well. In general, one can say: Ventilating is the best secret tip. But that is of course easiest to say in spring and summer. In the colder season, this tip is a little harder to implement.

Orange peel

Besides ventilating, orange peels can provide a good scent. Fill the peels into a glass container and place them on the still lukewarm stovetop. Through the heat, the aromas can unfold excellently and thus drift through the entire apartment. A wonderful orange scent now fills the rooms.

Coffee powder

If you don't have orange peels on hand, you can also use coffee powder. Put this in a small glass container and place it on the still lukewarm stovetop. Here, too, the odor is unfolded by the heat and spreads in the kitchen.

Vinegar

Also great: put a few drops of vinegar on the warm stovetops: they evaporate and neutralize the odors.

Cinnamon

However, if you cannot get along so well with vinegar, you might find a good scent with cinnamon. For this, place some water mixed with cinnamon on the stovetop and let the scent spread.

Roses and salt

Fresh scents and good odors make a house seem more pleasant. To emphasize the fresh air, there are numerous scented oils and scented candles to buy. However, you can also easily make such an enchanting scent yourself. Simply fill a sealable container alternately with a layer of rose petals and table salt. Finally, add a dash of alcohol. Your very own personal room air freshener is now ready. As you wish, you can now open the container and let the wonderful scent unfold in the room.

Tip: This homemade room air freshener is also a great idea as a gift!

Ginger prevents fishy odor

Fish in particular tends to spread its odors long-lastingly in the house and apartment. However, you can prevent this annoying odor by letting a piece of ginger cook with the fish.

Potatoes prevent cabbage odor

Cabbage dishes do not spread their delicious, yet dominant odor as far if you add Potatoes to the head.

Scent shower with vinegar water for furniture and textiles

But it is not only the air that sometimes smells a bit bad. Unpleasant aromas can also stick to furniture and textiles. A scent shower is then just the right thing. Simply spray the furniture with a little vinegar water and let it take effect for 5 minutes. Then rub the textiles thoroughly with a firm brush. Done.
