Mustard is a popular side dish for meat and is also often used in cooking, as it gives sauces and dressings that certain something. You often don't need much from the mustard jar and it stays in the fridge for a long time. Unfortunately, mustard in a jar has the property of drying out on the surface. We have a tip here on how to prevent this:
Mustard does not dry out thanks to oil
Add a touch of oil to the surface; this prevents it from drying out and keeps the jar clean.
How long does mustard last?
Mustard can be kept for years in closed jars, even beyond the best-before date. Vinegar is used in the production of mustard, and this ensures that the mustard does not spoil.
Over time, liquid will separate, but that doesn't matter; simply stir or shake and enjoy.
If the mustard has dried out on the surface, remove this area with a spoon and stir. If it is still too hard, you can add a drop of oil.
If there is mold on the mustard, do not eat it anymore and dispose of it immediately!
