Felt hats look very elegant and are nowadays used more for special occasions. It can happen that the hat has been in the closet for some time and no longer looks quite as fresh. Here we have a household tip on how to refresh these hats:
Refreshing felt hats
Hot steam
Old felt hats can be refreshed with hot steam. Use a steam iron for this and steam the hat. If only one spot is dented, it is enough to hold just that spot over the steam. Once the hat is well moistened, let it cool down for a moment and then put it on briefly so that it can be brought back into shape. Then brush with a soft brush.
It also works with a pot of water: bring the water to a boil and hold the hat over the steam for a few minutes. Then brush it up with a soft brush as well.
No ironing
Never iron a felt hat to bring it into shape, always use only the steam from the iron.
