Shoes - High heels

It happens time and again that you buy shoes and they pinch and don't quite fit. Unfortunately, this happens to me so often. I buy beautiful shoes, and they fit wonderfully when I try them on. As soon as I walk in them for longer than 5 minutes, they start to pinch and hurt. Here I have a few tips for those to whom this also happens sometimes.

Home remedies for when your shoes pinch

Stretching with water

Shoes that are too tight can be expanded by dampening them on the inside and then letting the shoe dry on your foot. This works well with leather shoes; this tip does not always work with synthetic shoes. To do this, simply put on a wet sock and slip into the shoes with it. Now walk around in them for a while so that the shoes can stretch.

Linen cloth

If you place a wet linen cloth firmly into the toe of the shoe, the tannic acid, which causes a burning sensation in the toes and triggers unpleasant pain, can be drawn out. It is best to let the linen cloth soak overnight.

Olive oil

First, bring water to a boil in a pot. Now dip a towel into it and wring it out. Wrap the shoes in the towel for a few minutes. After removing the wet towel, rub the shoes with olive oil and let the shoes sit until the next day.

Stretching with rubbing alcohol

If the new shoes are too tight, pull a wool sock dampened with rubbing alcohol over a shoe tree and leave it in the shoe for a day. If the heel pinches, dampen the leather with rubbing alcohol and tap it lightly from the inside with a hammer.

Alcohol

Alcohol is just as helpful. Pure alcohol can be purchased at any pharmacy, but good rum also does a good job. Rub the areas that hurt with a cotton ball soaked in alcohol, or 'rinse' the shoe completely with alcohol. Put the shoe on immediately and walk around – this allows the shoe to adapt to the foot.

Water walking

Water walking is said to be just as useful. For this, step into a bathtub filled with water with the tight shoes on your feet. The shoes should then dry on your foot so that the desired shape is maintained. Then rub the shoes with a good skin cream and let it soak in. The cream should be applied thinly and evenly from the inside and outside. This extensive treatment not only makes the shoes wider, but the leather also becomes pleasantly soft and supple.

Note: This method ONLY works with shoes made of genuine leather. For suede, you should consider other options, as a pure water treatment can leave unsightly stains on the rough leather.

If you don't want to deal with moisture, cold can provide a remedy. This variant is just as helpful for turning tight shoes into comfortable footwear. For this, for example, the freezer is extremely predestined. How is that supposed to work?

Freezer compartment

Simply fill one or two plastic bags – Freezer bag are excellent for this – a quarter full with water and seal them well. Now place these water bags into the shoes and put the shoes together with the water bag into the freezer. Give the shoes enough time – it is best to keep the new shoes in the freezer overnight, so the water can turn into ice for long enough, expand, and thus stretch the shoes. The next morning, you can simply remove the bags and wear the new shoes without any problems – no more pinching, no more blisters: guaranteed!

Shoe trees

However, if the leather is extremely unyielding, you can still take the shoes to your trusted cobbler. They have special shoe stretchers, which optimally stretch the footwear.

Stretch sprays

In shoe stores, you can also purchase so-called "stretch sprays". With these sprays, you can easily spray the shoes, let this treatment take effect for a few hours, and then see the result perfectly. The shoes are pleasantly soft, the shoe fits, and no longer pinches.

Newspaper

Very simple and the easiest option: stuff the new footwear with plenty of crumpled newspaper. Here, the stuffing should be quite generous and as much paper as possible should be pressed into the shoes. This can also achieve a widening.

Right time to buy shoes

Many women will say here: Always ? No, I mean here, when it is best so that they really fit super well. Because it is best to buy shoes in the afternoon, as the feet have already 'lengthened' a little over the day. In the morning, the foot is still shorter, so you run the risk of buying shoes that are too small, which then pinch.
