Clean windows more cheaply
Vinegar

Methylated spirits
Mixing a little methylated spirits with water also makes a great cleaning agent for windows.
Vinegar and spirits
Add some cleaning water to the Vinegar and Methylated spirits. The windows will become wonderfully clean.
Dishwashing detergent
Windows that are soiled with oily soot, for example from heavy traffic or domestic heating, can be cleaned streak-free in no time with dishwashing liquid. To do this, add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to the wash water and wipe dry with newspaper or an old cloth diaper.
Cleaning with rainwater
When it starts to rain, simply spray the windows with dish soap or keep wetting dirty spots with it during the rain. The rain simply washes the dish soap and the dirt away.
Newspaper instead of a cloth
A crumpled-up newspaper is enough for wiping dry; it dries the panes without streaks. This saves you from needing a cloth.
Nylon stockings
Don't throw away old nylon stockings; use them to polish your windows instead. The structure of the material removes all streaks and smears.
