If you look at the figures from current statistics, you get an initial feeling for how important saving water is. Per person, around 150 liters of water are consumed daily in Austrian households. In a country comparison, Italy is in first place with 213 liters, and India is the most economical (out of necessity) with only 25 liters per day. - It is much more economical to shower than to take a full bath every day. Up to 200 liters of water have to flow through the pipes before the tub is full. When showering, you can get by with 70 liters.
- saving water through the toilet flush: Modern cisterns are easy to install and provide savings of up to 8 liters per flush. If you can stop the water flow manually, that is obviously always an advantage.
- Dripping faucets in the Household seem unimportant, but they are not. Approximately 36 liters are lost this way in one day. With defective toilet flushes, the problem is even greater: here we are talking about amounts of approximately 700 liters per day.

- A tip that is certainly not liked by everyone, but is very effective, has to do with nutrition. Give up meat. Because around 15,000 liters of water are needed for the production and processing of 1 kg of beef, which corresponds to 19 euros. To produce the same amount of grain, 1000 liters are consumed.
- Water-saving shower heads can save up to 70 euros per person.
- Leftover food and waste from the household do not belong in the toilet – if you flush them down there, they represent a burden on the wastewater. If you throw waste into the trash can instead, you can once again make a contribution to saving water.
