The largest shopping centers in Austria invite you to extensive shopping tours. The Alpine republic has more to offer than just numerous activities for tourists and attractive excursion destinations. Modern shopping centers also attract countless visitors day after day. In the shopping centers, shops are lined up one after another. Stores with fashion for young and old, electronic devices, and home furnishings are all represented. In between, you can find recommended souvenir shops. Catering is also well taken care of thanks to extensive food stalls.
List of the largest shopping centers in Austria
The largest shopping centers in Austria – these include, above all, the following facilities:
- the Shopping City SĂĽd with the SCS Multiplex on the southern outskirts of Vienna,
- the Donau Zentrum and the Donau Plex, also located in Vienna,
- Shopping Resort G3 in Gerasdorf,
- Parndorf Fashion Outlet,
- the Shoppingcity Seiersberg,
- the PlusCity in Pasching/Linz,
- the Grazer Center West,

The two largest shopping centers in Austria: Shopping Citys in Vienna and Seiersberg
The largest shopping centers in Austria – the informed person immediately thinks of the Shopping City Süd in Vienna. Founded in 1976, the shopping center is the largest of its kind in Austria and even competes for the title of "largest shopping center in Europe." The Shopping City Süd (SCS) offers more than 330 shops and a retail space of approximately 270,000 square meters. In terms of size, the Shopping City Seiersberg follows in second place in Austria. In terms of area alone, however, the shopping center located in the Graz suburb is significantly smaller. The more than 200 shops are spread over 85,000 square meters. The main building was opened in 2002.
Donau Zentrum – the next large shopping center in Vienna
Shopping in Vienna is not limited to the SCS. With the Donau Zentrum, the capital has another large shopping center to offer. Together with the attached Donau Plex (DX), the Donau Zentrum forms a large entertainment center. There are no limits to leisure design. In the ranking of the largest Austrian shopping centers, the Donau Zentrum is in third place. Originally, the facility had an area of 22,800 square meters. After several expansions – since its opening in 1975 – the Donau Zentrum now covers around 130,000 square meters.
G3 – Shopping Resort in Gerasdorf
A large shopping center has been built in Gerasdorf. With its extraordinary architecture and sustainable construction, the G3 houses over 140 shops. There are over 4,000 parking spaces available, partly outdoors and partly in an underground garage. In addition to international industry leaders, local ones can also be found. The areas range from fashion, food, electronics & multimedia to sports, drugstore, and living. Some catering establishments can also be found here so that you don't have to go hungry while shopping.
Parndorf Fashion Outlet
A visit to the Fashion Outlet Parndorf is worth it. On an incredible area of a whopping 27,500 m², you will find shops from over 100 brand manufacturers in the mid-range and premium segments. Here you will find shops from Esprit, Jack & Jones, Julius Meinl, Gabor, Northland, Palmers as well as Dior, Joop, Pierre Cardin or Versace and many more. In many shops, such as Esprit, brand goods are heavily discounted, so you can really find nice bargains here. All brand fans are well advised to look around the Parndorf Fashion Outlet.
Caution: Plan plenty of time and wear comfortable shoes: there is really a lot to see.
Other shopping centers: PlusCity, Haid Center and Center West
In fourth place among the largest shopping centers in Austria is the PlusCity with a retail space of 70,000 square meters. The center, which opened in 1989, is located in Pasching, southwest of Linz. Furthermore, the Center West in Graz should be mentioned. Until 2012, the owner of the center was the Swedish furniture company IKEA. Most recently, an investor group took over the facility with 50,000 square meters of retail space. The Haid Center in Ansfelden, Upper Austria (area of 60,000 square meters), is also one of Austria's larger shopping centers. The facility was created in 1991 through a loose merger of various shops.
