Good preparation is the most important thing
Nothing works during installation without thorough planning. To prepare, measure out the pool area and mark it with steel rods. Plan the access points to the swimming pool. Take into account the important installations for the filter system or counter-current system. A construction drawing with all the necessary information provides helpful guidance.
Excavating the pool
Before you start excavating your pool, prepare the ground by filling or leveling it. To excavate the ground, it is advisable to hire a construction company. If you rent a mini excavator, you can do the excavation yourself. It is advisable to temporarily store the excavated soil, as you can use it afterward to fill in the walls from the outside.
Create and plaster the floor slab
Next, create a floor slab on the subsoil. The formwork for the 30-centimeter-thick floor slab is made with construction planks. Staple construction foil to these. This protects the concrete from moisture from the ground. Lay out the steel mesh on spacers. The floor slab is then poured with concrete. It needs several days to set. After that, build the walls. Before plastering, fix 10-millimeter-thick quick-plaster profiles with rapid-setting cement. Lime-cement mortar is suitable for plastering the interior and exterior walls. After setting, a thick bitumen coating follows. It prevents moisture from the soil from penetrating. A dimpled membrane protects the walls from damage.
The final steps
Now the supply and drainage pipes are installed. 10 centimeters of sand or fine gravel protect the pipelines and installations. This is followed by 30 to 40 centimeters of soil. Compact this carefully with a wooden tamper. Then clean the pool. Lay out the pool fleece and liner. Seal the pool liner with a hot-air device. Once all seams are watertight, gradually fill the pool with water. Seal any leaks if necessary. Once the swimming pool is finished, install skimmers and ladders. Slip-resistant slabs around the pool complete the swimming area.
