The days when gardening meant hard drudgery are long gone. Smart gardening is the new trend. Technology is constantly evolving and bringing with it many different innovations that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago. A robotic lawnmower is already old news, but the following five new developments are truly impressive.
Device #1: Smart irrigation with CloudRain
Proper watering is an art that needs to be learned. But now the motto is: smartphone instead of watering can! With CloudRain, garden irrigation can be conveniently controlled via an app from your own smartphone. Based on current weather data such as hours of sunshine, temperature, and humidity, the program creates an individual irrigation schedule. This can save up to 80 percent of water consumption compared to timers.
The system consists of a controller and several valves. An integrated solar panel ensures that the system powers itself and requires no batteries or cables. The corresponding app is available free of charge for both Android smartphones and iPhones.
Device #2: Electric wheelbarrow
Anyone who often has to transport heavy loads with a wheelbarrow knows how much it can strain the back. An electronic wheelbarrow provides a remedy here. The corresponding technology is already known from e-bikes: the wheelbarrows are battery-operated and have a motor built into the rims. This allows even heavy loads to be transported in a back-friendly manner.
Slopes with an incline angle of up to 35 degrees can be effortlessly overcome with an electric wheelbarrow. Thanks to the three-wheeled design, the models have a very small turning circle. To ensure that the wheelbarrows come to a quick stop even when heavily loaded, they are equipped with high-quality disc brakes. One battery charge is sufficient for about three to five hours of operation. Well-known manufacturers include PowerPac and Zipper, for example.
Device #3: Weed robot
For many garden owners, weeds are a real plague. In painstaking detail work, they try to continuously remove the troublemakers from the garden. But in most cases, the offspring are visible again just a few days later, especially in the summer months. Many help themselves with the chemical club: in German gardens, over 500 tons of pesticides are distributed annually!
Tertill has developed a weed robot against the chemicals, the frustration, and the back pain. This is simply placed in the corresponding bed and activated. It then uses sensors to identify the different plants: small plants are cut off and disposed of by it. The larger plants, on the other hand, are carefully driven around. The weed robot gets the energy it needs from the sun.
Rain cannot harm the little robot either. It also does its job when it is pouring outside.
Device #4: Pool robot
The pool robot is almost one of the old hands among the robots that take the gardening work off your hands. But there are also numerous new developments in this sector. The first robots could only clean the floor. In the meantime, some of the electronic helpers can also climb up the walls and clean them accordingly.
Compared to a conventional pool vacuum, the robots offer many advantages:
- No filter system is required for cleaning.
- The initial settings are usually very easy to make.
- Cleaning takes place fully automatically without your own intervention.
- Especially with large pools, they save an enormous amount of time.
Device #5: Automatic grill cleaner
A cozy barbecue evening with friends and relatives on a balmy summer evening is a fine thing. If only there wasn't always the necessary cleaning of the grill after eating.
There is now an electronic buddy for this too, which can take this annoying work off your hands. The Grillbot grill cleaning robot cleans gas, electric, and charcoal grills and saves you the scrubbing.
As soon as the grill grate has cooled down to a temperature of below 120 degrees Celsius, the robot can be used for cleaning. If the plate is still too hot, it switches itself off automatically. When the work is done, the grill robot signals with a beep. Cleaning is carried out by means of rotating wire brushes, which can then simply be cleaned in the dishwasher.
