Sugaring, epilator or laser after all: Is there a best method for removing hair?

Here it is again, that tiresome topic. Far too often, the ladies and sometimes even the gentlemen of the species have to deal with it, because especially in summer, smooth legs, a neatly hair-free bikini line, and soft underarms are a must. Many women simply feel more comfortable hair-free and therefore do not want to do without it.

But a large number are annoyed above all by how often one has to reach for the razor to maintain a smooth skin appearance. We therefore repeatedly grapple with the question of which method is best: epilating or shaving? Perhaps waxing or sugaring instead? So how does a woman find the method that suits her best?

Individual answer – what suits you

You cannot answer the question of the perfect method with a blanket statement. Those who want to remove hair permanently might prefer to fall back on options whose results last longer. Those who have little time for hair removal might decide more in favor of shaving. Thus, every method has its advantages and disadvantages. If you know these, the decision is usually easier.

Hair removal: Epilators in focus

In order to be able to remove hair permanently, it is important not just to cut it off, but to remove it with the root. The advantages are obvious: the hair is removed including the root and the result lasts a long time. If you prepare the skin well and use good epilators, the Hair removal is even possible without pain. Numerous small tweezers pull out the hairs during the process and thus ensure a perfect result. What grows back is usually fine and soft – no sign of stubble.

But this method also has disadvantages: Good epilators are not cheap. However, if you compare the one-time investment with the constant repurchasing of razor blades, this sum is quickly put into perspective. Some women complain about having ingrown hairs after epilating. This is indeed possible because the leg hair grows back very softly. With a Scrub however, this problem can be avoided.

Hair remover: Laser for smooth skin

Hair removal with a laser is touted as being particularly long-lasting. Anyone who wants to try this out has to invest a fair amount. But not every woman is happy with the result afterwards. For one thing, six to eight sessions are necessary to remove the hair permanently. For another, it can happen that not all hair roots are destroyed and hair grows back in places after all. What particularly upsets many women is the fact that the result usually does not last forever, contrary to all promises – just a few months later, many clients experience uneven hair growth again.

Hair removal: Sugar, sugar

So-called sugaring is, in principle, similar to hot wax hair removal. With the help of a viscous sugar paste, the hair is pulled out of the skin along with the root. To do this, you warm the mass in your hands, press it onto the skin, and then pull it off quickly. In the process, hairs stick to the mass, which are then out with a jerk. This method is quite modern and popular because it is effective.

In fact, it is possible to make a DIY sugar paste for sugaring, but laypeople find it quite difficult to find the perfect consistency and to carry out the application properly. The result is therefore usually only impressive if a professional was at work. This brings us to the disadvantages of sugaring: Although the hair removal method is very clean and effective, it is difficult to implement. Usually, an expensive appointment at a beauty salon is necessary. Every six to eight weeks, it's that time again. In addition, not every woman can tolerate the pain that arises from pulling off the paste. By the way, ingrown hairs are also possible with sugaring.

You have to try out which method is suitable for you or weigh up which disadvantages you can live with – this is how you find the best method.
