Ice skating delights young and old; it doesn't require much equipment and, once you've tried it a few times, it's not that difficult. But where can you go ice skating? Are there also natural ice rinks? I know the artificial ice rink in Matzen in the Gänserndorf district very well; we have been there very often with the children. Ice skating on Lake Lunz
If it is really cold, you can go ice skating on the frozen Lake Lunz. Just be careful, there is no official approval of the lake for skating. Information can be found on the Weather blog by Hannes Hager.

Extra tip: a bit further on, unfortunately already in Styria but not much further, there is a wonderful lake for ice skating.
Ice skating on Erlaufsee
The lake is largely in the shade, so it freezes over very well. Here you can go ice skating in a beautiful setting. Attention: there is no official approval, ice skating at your own risk.
Food is available at the manor house or at the beach buffet, if it is open.
