Chestnuts or potato chips, mulled wine or punch, and lots of Christmas decorations are simply part of the Advent season for me. It has become a tradition to visit at least one Advent market. Advent market Blumengarten Hirschstetten in ViennaEvery year, the gardens and glasshouses at the Blumengärten in Hirschstetten are beautifully decorated. For refreshments, there are all kinds of organic delicacies, such as chestnuts, baked potatoes, pumpkin seed products, etc., as well as punch. Beautiful gift ideas are also offered here time and again, and homemade items such as cookies or handicrafts can be purchased.

Advent Magic in the Garden – Kittenberger Experience Gardens

Advent exhibition Kittenberger Experience GardensThe Kittenberger Experience Gardens provide a wonderful day that will feel too short. 50 gardens full of creative Christmas decorations, a Christmas puzzle rally, a Christmas tree exhibition, a life-size nativity scene, and a floating giant Advent wreath are just a few of the attractions during Advent. If you have become hungry from exploring, you will surely find something tasty at the Glas.Haus garden restaurant, in the AdventstĂĽberl, or in the garden arena. You can find everything from hot and cold dishes to pastries, as well as homemade punch and mulled wine.

Christkindlmarkt Rosenburg

Before Christmas, a very atmospheric Advent market takes place on the weekends of Advent at Rosenburg Castle. Christmas concerts, readings, handicrafts, and culinary delights from over 80 exhibitors make this market a special experience.

Grafenegg Advent

Music, culture, arts and crafts, and of course culinary delights can be found at the Grafenegg Advent. The magnificent ambiance definitely puts you in the Christmas spirit.

Christmas Workshop in the Waldviertel

At this special Advent market (actually an Advent tour), you should and can see what can be found in the craft businesses. Here, handmade products made of wood, stone, or glass, as well as many other materials, can be purchased and will surely make for a Christmas gift or two. Currently, 16 businesses are participating!(As of 2021)

Castle Advent at Aggstein

Admire modern handicrafts in the Knights' Hall, the scent of roasted almonds, torches all around the castle – this medieval market is an experience. Over 60 exhibitors offer their goods, from hand-sewn leather products to children's armor stands and unique ceramic pieces. You will find many beautiful gift ideas here. For refreshments, sweet, savory, or vegetarian dishes, as well as fish or meat, are offered. Warm mulled wine or punch warms you from the inside.

Wachau Advent at DĂĽrnstein Castle

A visit to DĂĽrnstein Castle during the Advent season is very romantic. The inner courtyards present themselves as an atmospheric Christmas wonderland, where many delicacies and fine gift ideas can be purchased. You should and must bring an appetite, because it's not just the usual chestnuts that entice you to take a bite: barbecue smokers, local fish stew, Christmas cookies, and fruit bread are waiting to be tasted. For the children, there is a children's program in the courtyards.
