How to make your home more beautiful with clever decorating ideas

In the end, whether a home looks like a furniture store, a train station concourse, or a cozy and individual home depends on harmonious decoration. These days, we are more open and flexible than ever, because there are no rigid rules. Everyone can and should decorate their home the way they like. One person loves placing a sculpture on the windowsill, while another appreciates having fresh flowers throughout the house.

Free yourself from conventions. Why should you care what others think of your decoration? You alone will live in it 24 hours a day, not your visitors. Of course, approval and an admiring “That looks really great” are always nice, but the only thing that counts is your taste alone.

If you keep a few basics of room decoration in mind, you can achieve truly impressive results and create a home in which you and your family will feel extremely comfortable. Here are our 5 ultimate decorating tips:

Decorating Tip #1

Keeping a room within one color family creates a harmonious effect. Play with different shades and adjacent matching colors. Decorating in just one single color with a few fun color accents can also look excellent.

Decorating Tip #2

Opposites attract. This also applies to decorating. With contrasts, you create a special mood, a certain tension, simply something extraordinary. You can work with many different aspects here. Combine old and new, black and white, small and large, wood and bronze, round and square, and so on.

Decorating Tip #3

Your best friend gave you a beautiful bronze statue and it is one of your absolute favorite pieces, so it deserves a place of honor. Look for a truly beautiful spot where the piece can make an impact and be shown in the right light. Family photos or souvenirs from a wonderful vacation should also be cherished.

The right light is an important element in this context. Small spotlights or modern LED systems give you possibilities you may never have imagined. LED strips have the advantage that their color can be adjusted depending on the time of day or mood, giving your favorite piece the setting it deserves.

Decorating Tip #4

A shelf does not always have to be crammed only with books or arranged completely evenly with shelves. Loosen up the look a little, remove individual shelves and hang a picture on the back panel or a series of pictures with fond memories of Fiffi, Waldi, and Mitzie.

If you are willing to put in a little more effort, you can also install a sliding door in front of part of the shelf. This brings a little more calm into the room, and it also gives you the opportunity to make some things “disappear” behind it.

Decorating Tip #5

Be bold, a little crazy, and willing to experiment. If you don't like the new decor after a few days, simply rearrange everything again. Buy a new accessory or bring an old picture up from the basement and give it a new shine, e.g. with a little gold leaf.

We hope you have lots of fun decorating and redesigning your home. With love and enjoyment, everything will turn out wonderfully.
