A fine drop in the evening after a long day or with friends at a social gathering is something many enjoy. Every year, some wineries make a name for themselves by producing particularly good vintages. Let's take a look at the prospects for 2022.
Organic is always a trend
Ecologically sustainable and absolutely organic is the way to go for wines as well. This trend is increasingly evident this year in the wine sector. Local wines without long transport routes are finding their way into shopping carts more and more often. Germany has several high-class wine regions to offer that produce excellent drops every year.
Anyone who is interested in wine and appreciates a good one should opt for wines produced in a vineyard. In contrast to smaller wineries, large wine factories rely on inferior grapes, which in many cases are imported from far away. Local wines therefore bring more advantages than just good taste.
Winemakers are increasingly relying on light bottles, ideally with a cork that makes that fantastic pop sound when pulled out with a Laguiole.
Quality over quantity
High-quality wines, which may well cost a little more, are being bought more frequently. The industry is recording an increase in the high-quality wine segment. Marketing experts suspect that the changed social conditions of the last two years have contributed to the fact that people prefer to drink a very good wine in small, select circles rather than drinking cheap no-name wine at a huge party.
Sparkling wines back in the glasses in 2022
Last year, orange wines in particular caused a stir in the wine scene. This white wine, which is produced like a red wine, has somewhat divided the connoisseurs. Some couldn't do anything with it at all, while others found this wine an optimal link between white wine and rosé.
This year, however, sparkling wines are increasingly appearing on menus again. Just like non-alcoholic wines, which have become an expression of the new, more conscious lifestyle of many.
Upgrading cheap wine,
that can be achieved with a little trick that might sound a bit unusual at first. Hyper-decanting can turn an inexpensive wine into a small taste experience. Nathan Myhrvold invented this process, in which the wine is put into a blender for a short time. The flavor compounds of the wine quickly form bonds with oxygen, and that is exactly what happens during mixing. Small air bubbles are mixed into the wine, making the taste more intense and at the same time softer.
2022 brings some interesting trends for wine lovers. The cross-industry eco and local trend is also noticeable here. Paired with a selection of high-quality wines and those that can be helped a little, a fantastic wine year awaits us in 2022.
