Iâm not really that keen on giving cash gifts, but if the recipient wants to buy something bigger, or if thereâs absolutely nothing suitable to be found at the moment, or they want to save up, then of course it makes sense to give money. But I definitely donât want to just press the notes into their hand, so I always browse the internet to see whether I can find something funny or suitable for the recipient for presenting the money. In my case, the recipient is a gifted pastry chef and creates wonderful cakes. So it was obvious to make her a money cake. This cash gift isnât that difficult and doesnât take that long, but you should work precisely, otherwise the cake wonât be even.
Folding banknotes into a money cake
What youâll need:
- 10 pieces of 10-euro banknotes
- Tixo
- Scissors
- Candle
- Possibly decorations, such as ribbon stars
Instructions:
First, on all 10 notes, fold the right side backward along the line by the archway
Then fold the note in half lengthwise down the middle and crease well
Next, use a ruler as an aid; this makes it easy to fold the diagonal.
Now fold the note diagonally from the âarchwayâ to the halfway point.
And do this on both sides so that it looks like a slice of cake:
If you turn it over now, youâll see the slice of cake:
Repeat this process with all 10 notes.
Then the âcake slicesâ are glued together. For this I use a small strip of Tixo, which I roll from the outside inward so that the sticky side is on the outside and a ring is formed.
I stuck this âglue ringâ right at the front and right at the back on the side and connected the âcake slices.â
Do this again with all the cake slices. Then connect the pieces on the outside with a narrow strip of Tixo.
So that the cake holds together better, I also glued the tips together on the inside with narrow strips of Tixo.
Once everything is well glued together, youâll have a âŹ100 cake in front of you. Donât be surprised: the cake is a bit dome-shaped and rises in the middle; mine didnât turn out soooo accurate either, but I still think itâs wonderful. For decoration, I used Tixo to stick a candle into the middle and glued a gold gift-ribbon star on top. Now Iâm looking forward to the recipientâs face.
