Summer is travel time. And it doesn't always have to lead (only) to the beach. Adventure holidays are an exciting alternative for anyone who wants to experience more on their vacation. Hikes on undiscovered paths, nights under the open sky, self-sufficiency, and testing your limits – all this can offer you far more than just fun and relaxation from the big city. Adventure holidays boost self-confidence, get you fit, and can bring a group closer together. However, for this to happen and for the holiday not to suddenly turn into a nightmare, you should consider a few things before you start your adventure. In this article, we give you 10 tips that will help you on your adventurous journey, far away from luxury hotels, tourist attractions, and party miles.

1: Good research in advance and converting PDF to Word

Anyone heading into the wilderness should be well prepared. After all, you can't quickly buy shower gel or a missing battery in the shop next door in a jungle. You should also inform yourself about the temperature and culture of the country in advance to avoid any missteps or problems. A good way to prepare perfectly for an adventure trip is to create your own document. This way, you can later pass on your experience to others in the form of a travel blog. So, first read through the experiences of other travelers and summarize everything in your own document. If you want to copy or adopt things, Adobe’s PDF to Word converter can help you. Even if you want to save your notes securely later and then change them again, this Adobe tool can be helpful.

2: Keep expectations realistic

A camping holiday in the forest, a hiking holiday in the mountains, or a jungle safari are not for the faint of heart. If you want luxury, you should book accordingly. You will certainly have some great experiences on your trip: wild animals, lonely natural beauties, impressive sunsets, and boundless experiences. However, keep your expectations realistic and remember that this will probably not be a relaxing week by the pool.

3: Know the dangers and take appropriate precautions

In the wild, there are also one or two dangers lurking. Starting with stinging nettles and mosquito bites to sunburn and wild animals to the risk of falling rocks. Here, too, the rule is: definitely inform yourself beforehand. And thoroughly. Because in this case, you should not only know all possible dangers, you should also know how to take care of yourself in an emergency or where you can get help. Good travel insurance for emergencies is also not a bad idea for adventure trips. At Check24 you can compare different providers and thus secure yourself in the best possible way.

4: Pack light – but do it right

If you are going to a hotel, you can simply put the large suitcase in the corner. It's different with an active holiday. Because here you may have to carry your luggage much further. Whether safari or hike: your things have to come with you after all. Therefore, pack as lightly as possible. Take only selected clothing and items with you and try to exchange larger things like towels for practical travel towels made of thinner fabrics. Also, think very carefully about what you need. Board games for long evenings can, for example, be exchanged for a deck of cards with which you can play several games at once. Two or three books can be replaced by an e-book that stores several books. And the high heels can stay in the closet at home this time.

5: The right clothing for the wilderness

The same applies, of course, to your clothing. If you walk a lot, you are best advised to wear breathable and quick-drying active clothing. This is also particularly light to wear. Definitely remember to pack warm clothes, as nights under the open sky can quickly get cold. But a light sun protection is never wrong either. A light scarf that you can tie around your head or put over your shoulders is best suited here. Also important: good, sturdy footwear that will accompany you over long distances without blisters, and short and long trousers (preferably a combo that can be adjusted to cold or warm temperatures with zippers, as this saves space in your luggage!).

6: Water, water, water!

If you move a lot in the sun, you need a lot of fluids. Definitely think about enough water. Of course, you cannot carry a 10-liter canister on your back. A water filter or water-purifying tablets, on the other hand, are not heavy and can make lake or rainwater drinkable in an emergency.

7: Think about electricity

You are, of course, in nature to enjoy it. But that doesn't mean you have to leave your phone or camera switched off the whole time. Whether e-book or camera phone: a power bank in your luggage can make sense if you want to charge something every now and then. Bonus tip: A power bank with a solar panel can simply be attached to the backpack during a day hike and thus recharges itself again and again.

8: First aid kit and mosquito spray

We already mentioned it regarding the dangers: whether a twisted foot or mosquito bites: be prepared! A small first aid bag and mosquito spray should not be missing in any adventure travel luggage. Depending on the country, also consider ticks, vaccinations, and other medical peculiarities!

9: Further must-haves

Do you want to be particularly flexible and spontaneous? Then, of course, camping equipment should not be missing. A tent, sleeping mat, sleeping bag, possibly a camping stove, and of course the headlamp can offer you a lot of freedom in nature. However, also consider space and weight in your luggage here. Many tents and sleeping bags are specially designed to take up as little space as possible and are as light as possible. However, these particularly light camping companions are also correspondingly more expensive. Investing in good camping equipment can be particularly worthwhile if you are on the road for a particularly long time or often.

10: Stay spontaneous and relaxed!

Last but not least: With all the planning and preparation, don't forget that you are still going on holiday. Even if an adventure holiday is fundamentally different from a cozy beach or hotel holiday: relaxation should not be neglected here either. And if something doesn't go as planned? Stay calm, rethink, and simply enjoy the moment to the fullest.
