The best wine taverns in the Marchfeld

Spending a cozy evening at a Heuriger has become something I really enjoy. Good food and, every now and then, a good glass of wine—it really has something special. Here in the Marchfeld there are very good wines and Heurige that combine them with good food. By now we have discovered quite a few good Heurige here in the Gänserndorf district that I would like to recommend to you. Here is my list of top Heurige in the Marchfeld:

Heuriger Helm in Prottes

We have been going to this Heuriger for a really long time and have celebrated quite a few lovely family occasions there. Stefan Helm now runs the Heuriger and the winery, and he does it really wonderfully. The food is excellent; there are always seasonal delicacies here, such as an asparagus salad in spring or a Winzer schnitzel now in winter. The open sandwiches and the Flaschenjause are also beautifully decorated. Various desserts are also offered and are very good, such as tiramisu or a Bauernkrapfen. You can enjoy coffee with them. The dishes vary, so you can always try something new here.

The wine from Buschenschank Helm in Prottes is highly recommended and can also be taken home. If you want something a little more unusual, try a Limoncello Spritz – my new favorite drink.

A big plus is how child-friendly this Heuriger is: inside the Heuriger, there is a lovely play corner with pencils and Duplo. Outside in the garden there is a nice playground with a climbing frame and sandpit. In summer there is a beautiful terrace where you can wind down the evening.

Heuriger Poys in Auersthal

We always like to come back to this Heuriger; my parents were regular guests here and we've enjoyed various celebrations here. They serve homemade, varied seasonal dishes. A favorite of ours is the topped giant salted pretzel stick, but the salads and platters are also really good. My favorite, by far, are the truly excellent pastries – Topfentascherl, Nusskipferl, Punschkrapferl, Nutella slices, banana slices – it's always very hard not to order everything.

The wine from Buschenschank Poys is very good and can also be taken home.

Heuriger Poys also offers lovingly furnished guest rooms, and a generous breakfast is served as well.

Heuriger Küssler in Stillfried-Grub

You can sit really beautifully here, especially when it is warmer, on the wonderful sun terrace. The food is prepared with great effort and attention to detail. Wonderful homemade pastries can also be enjoyed. In the wine shop, you can take home one wine or another.

Heuriger Schabel in Prottes

A really wonderful Heuriger, where homemade dishes and excellent wine are served. I really enjoyed the g’spritzte Marie. For children there is a playground and garden.

Heuriger Staringer in Stillfried

Buschenschank Staringer is very idyllically located on the beautiful Kellerberg terrace on the Stillfried Kellerberg. In a quiet location beneath shady walnut trees, you can enjoy your wine here. Meanwhile, the children can romp around and let off steam all around. Regional specialties, salads, and pastries are served. The wines are, of course, from their own cellar and made from certified organic grapes.

This Heuriger impresses with its wonderful location, situated right on Rochusberg, offering a magnificent view over the Marchfeld. The good food and excellent wines go perfectly with it. Children can romp around and let off steam wonderfully outdoors here.

We also really enjoy going to Heuriger Hirschbüchler; very friendly, sooo good food (the meat falls apart!) and really good pastries – it's a tough choice.
