Everyone wants to have a beautiful complexion, whether woman or man. For some time now, more and more redness has been visible on my cheeks. As always, I hoped it would go away again, but unfortunately that was not the case here—quite the opposite. When I drink alcohol, exercise, or go into a warm room in winter, it keeps happening that the redness becomes stronger, gets really hot, and I glow like a tomato.
So I decided to go to the dermatologist here in Gänserndorf to find out what kind of rash this was now.
Unfortunately, it is not a rash and cannot be treated that easily either: it is couperose (dilated small blood vessels), early acne rosacea. The dermatologist in Gänserndorf recommended that I have laser treatment with another dermatologist, and until then I was able to buy a thick, firm concealer stick from her. Of course I was quite depressed, because the redness naturally did not get any better and even got worse in certain moments. For a while I simply accepted it, but it bothered me more and more; you do become insecure, and above all these moments annoyed me when I got really “hot cheeks.”
Now, of course, the question was where I could have this done. I have been managing the website of JUVENIS in Vienna for years and have seen how passionately Dr. Tamara Kopp cares about the satisfaction of her patients. I also found her patient explanations for assignments to me really great. So I decided on JUVENIS. Dermatologist Dr. Tamara Kopp treats couperose/acne rosacea grade I with the top Nordlys laser. So I pulled myself together and made an appointment for this treatment, because I really wanted to be able to leave the house carefree again and without a lot of make-up. With this post, I would like to encourage fellow sufferers to treat themselves to this treatment, because in my opinion it immensely improves quality of life.
My experience with laser treatment for couperose – rosacea at JUVENIS in Vienna
The initial consultation for couperose – rosacea treatment on the face
My first appointment took place on February 15, 2023. JUVENIS is really very centrally located and can be reached quickly by the U1 – Stephansplatz station (even from Gänserndorf!). I hardly had any waiting time and was immediately shown into a consultation room. Dr. Tamara Kopp immediately confirmed the diagnosis from my dermatologist in Gänserndorf, but also explained everything about couperose/acne rosacea to me in great detail. Also the procedure and the chances of success. Here she showed me photos of how much better this redness can become, or even disappear completely. These flushes also disappear (yes, that is the professional term for when the face starts to glow!), and I absolutely want that!
I was prescribed a cream that I now have to apply in the evenings for 3 weeks and, very importantly, always (!) use a sunscreen with SPF 50 in the morning. You should not skimp on sun protection and really always (!) apply it, even when it is cloudy. At least one with SPF 30, preferably with SPF 50. There are also big differences between brands; it is best to use products from the pharmacy here, e.g. Heliocare or Letafin.
Dermatologist Dr. Tamara Kopp was very friendly and empathetic; I immediately felt very well looked after. She took away my fear of having laser treatment on my face, and I was immediately determined to go through with this treatment. So right after the initial consultation, I made an appointment for the treatment. Three to four treatments are planned so that everything really disappears.

1st treatment for couperose – rosacea at JUVENIS
The 1st appointment with laser treatment took place on March 15 at JUVENIS in 1010 Vienna. Again, we had no waiting time and dermatologist Dr. Tamara Kopp immediately led me into the treatment room. There I had to sit down in the treatment chair, and it was briefly explained what would be done today. Dr. Tamara Kopp noticed that I was very nervous and was really super nice to me; she gave me 2 stress balls to hold.
I was given protective goggles and my face was cleansed. Then a cream was applied that would ensure better conduction of the laser light. When the laser treatment begins, you feel a brief pain and the treated area becomes somewhat warm. But the pain is quite bearable, and very well-timed breaks were always taken so that you could gather yourself a little.
I was just so “shocked” that I had little blood vessels all over my face, so not only my cheeks were treated, but also my nose, my chin, and my forehead. The treatment takes only a few minutes, then the eye protection is removed, as well as the conductive cream, and a cooling cream was applied to the treated areas. The face burns a little in the treated areas, but again, it is quite bearable, and Dr. Tamara Kopp immediately reassured me that this is normal. My face did have a few reddish areas; these were also covered with a concealing cream so that you could hardly see anything anymore.
Now I have to be very careful; I always have to apply sun protection 50+ and be careful with sunlight on my face. I should also continue using the “night cream” once everything is back to “normal.” With the information to make another appointment and after receiving an after-laser cream at reception, I was discharged very kindly. Another tip from Dr. Tamara Kopp: keep the after-laser cream in the refrigerator, then it is pleasantly cool.
I admit, I was very relieved. I still had the feeling that the areas were a little hot under the mask, but on my forehead I already didn’t feel anything at all anymore. As soon as I took the mask down and had left the practice, I didn’t feel anything anymore. The cool air felt very pleasant on my skin. Andreas also said you really could hardly see anything, so we went out for a nice meal in Vienna and in the evening we went to a wine tavern.
The cost of a laser treatment for couperose on the face is €290.
I made my next appointment at reception.
In the following days, I had slight swelling on my face and you could see small dark red “little blood vessels” that were “dying off.” I had no pain at all. I still use the after-laser cream 2–3 times a day and a sunscreen with 50+ every day.
The swelling lasted almost 4 days; the small blood vessels were then no longer visible at all. I started applying the “night cream” I had from JUVENIS again, because I still need one more appointment so that all the redness disappears.
2nd treatment for couperose – rosacea at JUVENIS
My 2nd appointment took place on April 19, again at JUVENIS. Now I already knew how it would go and was no longer so nervous. I was told that my skin was much finer, that the pores had become smaller, and that the rosacea was already much less. I was very pleased about that.
Then this time I was given pads that are stuck onto the eyes, the cream, and then the treatment already began: First, certain visible blood vessels were treated specifically with the laser using one setting. After that, the entire face was treated for rosacea. After the treatment, the face was again slightly red and hot. Thanks to the cooling cream, however, this subsides quickly and you actually couldn’t see anything on the same day.
The day after the treatment, you couldn’t see any “dead” blood vessels, but the face was somewhat swollen again. However, it caused me no pain; I used the after-laser cream again 2–3 times a day and a sunscreen with 50+ every day. This time the swelling had disappeared by the very next day, and I think you can immediately see that the redness was much less, and the complexion much finer. Two weeks after the treatment I was thrilled: no more redness, no more flushes. I am so happy with my beautiful complexion.
Again I applied this “night cream,” because I would like to attend one more appointment so that the redness is finally removed.
3rd treatment for couperose rosacea at JUVENIS
My 3rd appointment took place on May 17, 2023, again at JUVENIS in Vienna. After a short conversation—by now I already know how everything works—the treatment began right away. This time the beautician treated me, as Dr. Kopp unexpectedly had no time; she was also very, very nice and took good care of me. Again, first cleansing the face, then protective goggles, and now the laser is used. First, the blood vessels on my nose were treated again. Then the redness on the cheeks and also the forehead. After the treatment, a soothing cream is applied to the skin.
Here you can see exactly how laser treatment for couperose – acne rosacea works. After applying a gel, the Nordlys laser is held over the affected areas of the face and makes the red blood vessels disappear.
After this 3rd treatment, there was no swelling to be seen on the same day, nor any redness. Of course, I applied the after-laser cream again 2–3 times a day. The next day, a very slight swelling could be seen, but this time much less noticeable than the 1st time and no longer visible on the 2nd day either. Four days after the treatment, you can already see very nicely that the rosacea – couperose is disappearing. I myself now notice that the complexion is so much finer, the redness has disappeared, AND above all, I no longer have these flushes at all. I am thrilled and very glad that I dared to take this step. Personally, I think it is worth having this treatment and can warmly recommend JUVENIS in Vienna.
