If the cake has turned out too dry, you can still enhance it. Here I have a few tips and ideas on how to make your cake moister.
Tips if the cake is too dry
Fill with jam
You can wonderfully fill a cake that is too dry with jam. This makes the cake moister.
Fill with cream or pudding
A good variation is to fill the dry cake with a buttercream, pudding, or a quark cream.
I have a lot of fillings here:
Decorate the cake
Cover the cake with a chocolate ganache (if you don't want to make it yourself, just use a ready-made chocolate glaze (e.g., from Manner), or simply melt chocolate, that works great too. Then decorate the cake nicely: with sugar sprinkles, fruits, or sugar pearls. There is already a huge selection of decorations available here. Colorful M&M’s, Raffaello’s, Giotto, or Schoko Bons also look great.
Other idea:

- Cake decoration with fruits
My favorite decoration: Cake with bunny
Great glazes for the cake
You can also wonderfully enhance the cake with various glazes:
Soak with juice or alcohol
Pierce the cake multiple times with a fork or a skewer, this helps it absorb the juice better:
Without alcohol:
- Lemon juice
- Orange juice
- Apple juice
- Espresso (very good for chocolate cake!)
- Cherry juice (very good for chocolate cake!)
- Cocoa (ideal for chocolate cake)
- Milk
- Coconut milk
- Whipped cream
With alcohol:
- Rum
- Amaretto
- Sherry
- Eggnog liqueur
- Baileys
Make a dessert
Prepare the dry cake as a dessert: you can use it as a layered cake in a glass with creams, pudding, or fruits. You can also use the cake in a Tiramisu instead of ladyfingers.
Cake leftover casserole is also a good option for a cake that is too dry, or a sweet dish like French toast tastes delicious with cake. Cake pops can be made very well with rather dry crumbled cake.
If you don't want to serve a broken Swiss roll as is, you can form the entire pastry with filling into large balls, cover them with chocolate coating, or just roll them in coconut or chocolate shavings.
Snowballs prepare, here a sponge cake is needed and everything is formed into balls.
