I've always wanted to wear a dress like this, especially because of this great petticoat. For a themed birthday party in 2014 with a 50s theme, the time had finally come and I was able to buy a dress. I decided on the colors black and white. Polka dots are a must for this era.
I was able to wear it again for our traditional carnival party at the Ostheimer house. I like this outfit, the dress is sooo great to wear, very flattering and sooo beautifully puffy with this petticoat. You definitely have to try it out:
50s costume for women
What you’ll need:
Clothing:
- 50s dress
- Petticoat
- Lace socks in white
- possibly skin-colored tights
- black vest
Accessories:
- Scarf, white with black polka dots
- large white hoop earrings
Instructions:
For this outfit, first put on the petticoat and then the dress over it – it looks sooo great. It was still quite chilly for us in February, so I combined it with a thin black vest. I wore skin-colored tights and the white lace socks.
I tied back my long hair with a polka-dot scarf. Add the white hoop earrings, and the 50s outfit is complete.
