Anyone lucky enough to own their own garden can express their creativity there and spend beautiful summer days. But all in all, having your own garden also means a lot of work. Due to different life situations, it can become difficult to manage it all alone over time. In this article, we therefore take a look at various tips with which the physical effort can be reduced somewhat.

Simplify irrigation

A major cause of the effort that has to be put into one's own garden is irrigation. Due to the often long dry periods in summer, it is essential in most regions of Germany to artificially water the plants for weeks. For most amateur gardeners, this means that the heavy watering can has to be filled again and again and dragged out to the flower bed.

But there are ways and means to make irrigation much easier. For example, an irrigation hose is a good option, which means that heavy cans no longer have to be dragged around in the future. Many see the disadvantage in this that expensive tap water now has to be used for watering. But it is also possible to connect the hose to a cistern and thus keep the financial expenditure low. In the future, free rainwater will be used for irrigation. The investment that may be necessary will pay for itself after a few years.

Choose low-maintenance plants

The type of plants we have chosen also influences the number of working hours to be performed. Some plants may look very beautiful, but they have to be constantly pruned, cared for, and protected from the cold in winter. A good alternative is therefore hardy, low-maintenance plants. They have the great advantage that they will survive the next winter without any special effort. Dangerous trips on the ladder just to protect the upper branches from the cold are therefore a thing of the past. It is therefore immensely worthwhile to make this change.

Convert the pool

Anyone who, for example, is no longer able to do strenuous work in the garden due to their age, also needs the former pool less often. This can be a place where the beloved gardening is at least shifted to a more comfortable position. A raised bed offers the possibility of no longer having to work in a squatting position and thus protecting the joints. At the same time, there is much better protection against slugs there. Perhaps the location of the previous pool is perfectly suited for this.
