A soy sauce stain on clothing, carpet, or upholstered furniture can be stubborn – but with the right remedies it can be removed effectively. It is important to act quickly. Only dab the fresh stain; do not rub or smear it, so that it does not penetrate deeper. If you are out and about and have nothing on hand, rinse it under cold running water, or order a Soda Zitron and treat the stain with the lemon.
- Lemon: carefully treat the stain with a lemon or the juice of a lemon.
-
Gall soap: Apply to the stain, leave to work (10–15 minutes), then wash as usual.
-
Dish soap & baking soda: Apply a drop of dish soap with a little baking soda, rub in gently, and leave to work for 10 minutes.
-
Vinegar solution: 1 part vinegar + 2 parts water, apply, dab, then rinse thoroughly.
For old stains
If the stain has already dried:
-
Soak in cold water with a little stain remover or detergent (at least 30 minutes).
-
Then treat as described above.
Acting quickly, cold water, and a suitable home remedy are the key to success. With a little patience, soy sauce stains can usually be removed completely – even without harsh chemicals.
