Olive oil is very often used in cooking and for salads. If you want to add a little variety, you could try making your own chili-tarragon oil. Or, if you don't want it quite as spicy, you can try the herb oil. We have some very good recipes for this here:
Homemade chili-tarragon oil
Ingredients
- 1-2 red chili peppers
- 4-5 sprigs of tarragon
- 2 bay leaves
- 500 ml olive oil
- nice, sealable bottle
Cut open the chilies and remove the seeds, wash and dry the tarragon. Put everything together into a nice bottle and pour the olive oil over it. Let the chili oil infuse for 3-4 weeks, then strain the ingredients and store in a dark place.
Homemade basil chili oil
Ingredients:
- untreated lemon
- Basil
- chili pepper
- 500 ml olive oil
- nice, sealable glass bottle
Instructions:
A sliced, untreated lemon, the leaves from a bunch of Basil, one sliced into rings, and one whole chili pepper put into a nice glass, and pour 500 ml of olive oil over it. Let the whole thing infuse in the dark for 2 weeks.
Homemade herb oil
Ingredients:
- 5 sprigs of basil
- 5 sprigs of thyme
- 1-2 cloves of garlic
- 500 ml olive oil
- nice, sealable glass bottle
Instructions:
Wash the herbs well and then let them dry, peel the garlic and cut into slices. Put everything into a nice glass bottle and pour the olive oil over it. Let the oil infuse for 3-4 weeks, only then strain it and store it in a dark place.
Now you just have to decide whether to give it away as a gift or enjoy it yourself.
