After a day at the lake or beach, sand quickly spreads into the footwell, onto the seats and into the trunk. If you wipe it immediately with a damp cloth, it often just turns into a greasy mess. A dry cleaning in a fixed order is better.
First remove all wet items from the car

Removing sand: the correct order

- Use a narrow nozzle: Seat rails and edges can be reached without scratching.
- Clean mats separately: Vacuum textile mats dry; clean rubber mats according to the manufacturer's instructions and allow them to dry completely.
Upholstery and sensitive surfaces
Sand grains can act like an abrasive. Therefore do not brush with strong pressure over plastic or piano-lacquer surfaces. A clean upholstery nozzle is suitable for fabric seats. Leather and faux leather should be vacuumed first and then treated only with a product intended for the material.
For damp stains or salt marks, test any cleaning product in an inconspicuous spot. Seats must not be soaked. If you are unsure about airbag seams, electric seats or special materials, consult the vehicle manual or a professional cleaner.

Limit sand on your next beach day
