Suede also needs to be well cared for; especially with shoes, it is likely that they will get dirty. Here we have a tip on how to clean suede with a household remedy.
Cleaning suede with carpet foam
To make suede jackets or shoes look like new again, cleaning with carpet foam is recommended. First, brush off loose dust with a soft brush. If matted stains have formed on the suede shoes, it is best to roughen them up with a very fine steel brush. If chewing gum is stuck to the shoe, let it freeze in the freezer for a while; this way, the chewing gum can be removed very easily.
For more stubborn stains, carpet foam is very suitable. To do this, dip a cloth in warm water and wring it out well. It must not be too wet under any circumstances, otherwise ugly water stains will remain on the shoes. Now apply a little carpet foam to the cloth and rub the stains on the suede shoe with it. During this procedure, always work on the stain from the outside in, otherwise you might enlarge it. Then wash out the cloth well, wring it out, and wipe over the stains again.
If you do not want to use carpet foam, you can also use leather soap here and apply it just like the carpet foam.
Finally, let the shoes dry well and then roughen them up again with a fine steel brush.
Protection for suede shoes
To ensure the shoes are well protected against dirt and moisture, it is recommended to spray them with waterproofing spray. It is best to spray them after cleaning, let them dry, and roughen them up again with the steel brush.
Remove small dark pressure marks with a nail file
To get rid of ugly dark pressure marks on suede shoes, you actually only need a nail file. Simply rub the affected areas with the emery board and the dirt particles will come loose.
