Pregnancy tips

In the video for the 18th week of pregnancy on meinhaushalt.at important information and tips for pregnancy in week 18 are presented.

In the 18th week of pregnancy, your Pregnancy is now quite obvious. The belly is hard to hide, but that doesn't have to be the case. Many pregnant women show off their belly and are proud of their condition.

Meanwhile, your baby continues to grow and thrive – it is now 15 weeks old, has reached a total length of 17cm, and weighs around 190g. The fetus's ears have now reached their final position. It can listen to its mother's voice better day by day. It is its favorite sound – but it can also perceive the father or siblings as well as other people talking to the mother. Do not be afraid to stroke your belly again and again and talk to your child. This is completely normal and strengthens the bond between mother and child.

Pulling in the groin

Are you sometimes plagued by a pulling sensation in the abdominal and groin area? Don't worry: the ligaments around the uterus continue to stretch – for many pregnant women, this condition can still be felt until shortly before birth. A small tip: this unpleasant pulling can be easily alleviated by leaning forward. Just give it a try.

Vaginal discharge

Are you perhaps plagued by increased vaginal discharge? This is also a normal symptom of pregnancy. However, if this discharge starts to smell strong or becomes excessive, it could possibly be a fungal infection, which must be clarified by a doctor. This infection can often be treated well with medication.

Varicose veins

In the course of the pregnancy further complaints or ailments may occur. Many pregnant women suffer from varicose veins or even hemorrhoids. However, all these inconveniences can be traced back to a very simple solution: the uterus and the fetus press on large veins located on the pelvic bone. Due to the blood congestion, these vessels widen and thus lead to the side effects.

Constipation

Constipation can also be attributed to this process – since the child now needs more and more space in the womb, the intestine is unceremoniously shifted. The result is a sluggish intestine that slows down its work. This is of course less pleasant, but you can alleviate possible constipation with plenty of exercise, drinking, and fiber. If no improvement is in sight, your doctor can certainly provide a remedy.

Calf cramps

Another evil in pregnancy is calf cramps. Very many women have to struggle with them, especially at night, while the partner next to you might be sleeping peacefully. The culprit is probably a magnesium deficiency or a disturbed blood circulation. Let your doctor advise you on this as well.

Linea Nigra

Have you already discovered the line on your belly? This is the Linea nigra, which usually appears in the second trimester of pregnancy. For some expectant mothers, this line turns dark because the abdominal muscles stretch. Shortly after birth, this discoloration usually disappears by itself.
