Many women simply cannot do without colored nails. It not only makes the fingernails an eye-catcher, but the woman herself also feels more comfortable with nail polish, and depending on the color, you can also express your mood quite well. While some women prefer pastel tones in spring and summer, dark colors are chosen in winter. The selection of nail polishes is truly enormous. Nevertheless, regular nail polish has a decisive disadvantage compared to gel nails: it takes forever to dry and often does not last as long.
How do I get my nails dry quickly and what is a definite no-go?
After the application of the base coat, which protects the nail and prevents discoloration, comes a thin first layer, which is perfected by a second top coat. But before each layer, you have to let the polish dry thoroughly (ideally between 5-8 minutes). Why? On the one hand, unsightly bubbles form in the polish if you apply one layer after another to the nails too hastily – these tiny bubbles simply disfigure the overall appearance and a smooth surface is no longer given. Furthermore, the polish smears if you start working with your fingers again without caution after a short time. The result not only looks unprofessional, it is simply a no-go.
To get your Nail polish dry faster, dry here are a few tips:
- if the polish has already partially dried, simply hold your fingers in a bowl of very cold water,
- or put your hands briefly into Freezer compartment.
If you are in a hurry, you should rather avoid these tricks: not apply:
- Blowing on the nails
Many people do it, but the effect is rather the opposite. Breath naturally contains moisture, and this settles like a veil on the nail polish. Conclusion: the polish dries even slower. This is therefore not recommended and should be avoided.
- Using the warm air of a hair dryer
Actually, additional air should speed up the drying of nail polish – or shouldn't it? In this case, the alcohol from the polish diffuses too quickly, the polish cracks and becomes brittle.
- The tip with the ice water is worth its weight in gold, right?
Unfortunately, there are also poor results to be recorded here. If you hold your freshly manicured fingernails in a cold water bath, the top layer of polish runs off with the water. However, this invisible layer protects the polish and makes it last longer. So if you decide on this variant, you will quickly find that the polish is only short-lived and chips off quickly.
What is the secret to beautiful fingernails?
As already mentioned, the base coat is crucial for a beautiful and even result. When you paint your nails, you have to take a little time. Each layer should be sufficiently and completely dry, before another layer is added. Layers that are far too thick are less advisable: the overall appearance does not look even and complete drying is almost impossible. It is better to use individual, thin layers than one thick one.
In drugstores, you can now get special polishes and sprays, that have a quick-drying ability. Simply spray/apply evenly over the fingernails after painting and after a short time you are ready for other things again.
Important and a little insider tip: the top coat. Just like the base coat, this not only extends the durability of the nail polish, it also leaves a beautiful, shiny finish and makes the result more brilliant.
It would be worth a try: According to recommendations from fellow sufferers, alcohol-free deodorant is said to be helpful. Simply spray lightly over the finished, air-dried nails, let it dry, and the works of art are finished. You can try it out if you have to wait forever for air drying anyway...
