Pregnancy tips

In the video for the 22nd week of pregnancyImportant information and tips for pregnancy in week 22 are presented on meinhaushalt.at.

In this week of pregnancy, the fetus has reached a weight of approx. 400g and is about 26cm tall in total. Your child still has enough space in the womb and moves a lot and extensively in the amniotic fluid. The kicks and nudges are usually quite nimble, and it often boxes vigorously against the abdominal walls, which can be clearly seen by the expectant mother through dents and bumps in the abdominal area.

Outsiders also have a pretty good insight into the athletic activities of the offspring. These kicks naturally serve, among other things, to develop the muscles. The child can still turn and twist in the womb, do somersaults, and turn as it pleases. But as it grows, space becomes less and movements more difficult. Although the baby has gained an enormous amount of size recently, it is still quite thin and looks downright fragile. It now needs to gain more fat and prepare diligently for the time after birth.

During this time, it diligently practices breathing again and again: during these exercises, it naturally inhales a little amniotic fluid and then exhales it again.

Your baby in the 22nd week

In the 22nd week of your Pregnancy, your child's hearing has already fully developed. It can now hear your voice, other people, and especially music very well. Play your favorite pieces to it now, and it will recognize them again after birth. Scientists found that the offspring actually have musical preferences. Some babies like deeper tones, while others are enthusiastic about higher melodies. You will notice this when you play different pieces of music. Classical music seems to calm unborn children in the womb more than rock or pop music. However, since this varies for every child, only your own test will help. Nevertheless, what you like is good for your child. It is important to incorporate positive thoughts and a little relaxation so that both the mother and the child can enjoy the music.

Braxton Hicks contractions

Do you feel your belly hardening every now and then? This can happen more frequently in the near future. These are harmless Braxton Hicks contractions that signal to you: please slow down and treat yourself to a break every now and then! A Braxton Hicks contraction usually does not hurt, but it is noticeable through an unpleasant feeling. Many women place their hand on their belly, pause, and consciously inhale and exhale. These are good measures – however, you should also find a place to rest and dedicate some time to relaxation. This will do you and your body good. Another useful tip: magnesium has proven effective against frequent Braxton Hicks contractions. In addition, this vitamin also helps excellently against calf cramps, which are usually noticeable at night.

Pregnancy complaints

In addition to heartburn, heavy legs, back pain, and unusual food cravings, many women also suffer from thick and, above all, swollen feet during the Pregnancy. Your legs and feet have to carry a lot of extra load during pregnancy, so that they eventually sound the alarm as well. Nevertheless, strained feet do not have to be – you can better stimulate blood circulation through targeted gymnastic exercises. To do this, let your ankles rotate slowly clockwise. Ideally, put your legs up a little after the exercise so that the blood can flow back slowly. However, make sure that you do not put your legs too high, as the blood might otherwise rush to your head and you might feel dizzy.
