Pregnancy tips

In the video for the 24th week of pregnancy on meinhaushalt.at important information and tips for pregnancy in week 24 are presented.

You are now in the 24th week of your Pregnancy. The child is now approx. 29cm tall and weighs around 500g.
The fetus's nervous system is currently so well-developed that its movements in the womb are becoming increasingly controlled. In addition to the maturation of the ears, other sensory organs have also developed further. The fetus can now smell and also taste. If the mother likes garlic or olives, for example, the baby also gets a small insight into the diverse world of taste. Perhaps the child now appreciates a portion of pasta just as much as you do.

Your child is now constantly making itself felt and is tumbling vigorously in the womb. The proportions of its little body are now very well balanced. The torso, arms, and legs have reached an appropriate size, yet the fetus's tiny head, with a slight growth lead, is still larger than the rest of the body. This will still be the case after birth, but don't worry: this state will change quickly, because your child grows a little bit more every day.

Your baby in the 24th week

While most of the baby's organs are already relatively mature, the lungs still need time to prepare for the first breaths after birth. From the end of the 24th week of pregnancy, the chances for your child to survive outside the womb are already quite good, even if the effort involves major intensive medical measures. Medical development has increased enormously over the last ten years. The chances of survival are under a lucky star in case of an emergency. Nevertheless, the best place for the child until the 37th week of pregnancy is and remains the womb, where the fetus receives everything it needs.

From this week of Pregnancy your abdominal circumference continues to increase significantly. The child continues to grow and thrive happily for its arrival into life, and you have to continue carrying the burden. Sometimes you can already clearly see how the child turns or moves in the belly. The bumps on the abdominal wall occasionally clearly show the shapes of feet and little hands. Outsiders also enjoy the "knocking signals" and are happy with you.

Setting up the nursery

Have you thought about the room layout in your apartment? Where should the nursery be? Does it perhaps need to be renovated? Many pregnant women ask themselves these questions – nevertheless, you should share your thoughts with your partner. Decide together how life should develop within your four walls. Sit down in peace and make plans. You can still do some small jobs well without your belly getting in the way. This could look different in the coming weeks, however: the bigger the belly gets, the harder even the simplest tasks will become for you.

Where the changing area will be in the future and how the layout of the rooms in your apartment should be designed is one side of the coin – however, when buying furniture, clothing, and toys, make sure that they are low in pollutants and child-safe. It is best to use odorless paints for painting, and you should also ensure that children's furniture complies with the latest TÜV and GS regulations.
