In the video for the 26th week of pregnancy on meinhaushalt.at important information and tips for pregnancy in week 26 are presented.

In the 26th week of your Pregnancy your child has reached a total length of approx. 23cm and weighs between 750g-800g. Gradually, the eyelashes are forming and the child will soon be able to blink. It is very remarkable that the fetus's brain continues to grow rapidly.

The baby's proportions are already very similar to those of a newborn. If you see the face on the ultrasound monitor, the facial features are overwhelmingly beautiful to recognize. Perhaps you can already recognize the little button nose and the fine contours of the lips that resemble yours?

Your child's movements are now very intense. Since the baby's growth is now happening rapidly, the uterus is logically becoming smaller and smaller. Your child will now cross their legs and place their arms crossed in front of their chest. Of course, the child is not completely restricted in their movements – they can still move, turn, and of course kick. You will feel the kicks more and more strongly and sometimes think that the child is performing real gymnastics in your belly.

Don't listen too much to others

Do you hear the most varied birth stories from acquaintances, friends, family, or other mothers? Many experiences will be anything but pleasant for you. Of course, a birth is no walk in the park, yet every mother experiences the miracle of birth differently. If the stories become too much for you, try to change the subject. It is better to take your midwife aside, who will help you get a better feeling for the birth. If you go into the birth phase calmly and relaxed, this experience will become the most beautiful of your life. And in confidence: so far, every mother has forgotten the pain of birth once she was able to hold her child in her arms. No one will be able to take this moment away from you – it will be unique and overwhelming.

Buying the first baby clothes

Surely you have already looked around in a baby department or browsed through numerous catalogs with baby starter sets. Rompers, socks, and bodysuits are tiny and cute to look at. You can slowly start thinking about the first pieces of clothing for your offspring. But also keep in mind that your offspring will grow very quickly, especially in the first six months. It would therefore be a pity if you bought too many pieces in small sizes. Therefore, before purchasing, consider whether you can get various clothes from acquaintances and friends. This is a good idea anyway; after all, these clothes have already been washed frequently and are therefore lower in pollutants.

Feel free to take some time now in this phase of your Pregnancy and create a detailed list. The following compilation serves as support for what your baby needs in the weeks after birth and, above all, which purchases make sense.

Clothing

  • 8 bodysuits in size 56 to 62
  • 1 or 2 soft hats in size 34 or smaller
  • 6 to 8 rompers in size 56 to 62
  • 6 to 8 shirts in size 56 to 62
  • 1 to 2 little jackets
  • 6 bibs or burp cloths (muslin diapers are excellent for this)
  • Possibly a baby wrap or a baby carrier
  • 4 to 6 pairs of socks

Clothing in winter

  • 6-8 thick shirts or sweaters in size 56 to 62
  • Mittens and wool booties
  • A jacket or a snowsuit for walks outdoors

Sleepwear

  • 2 or 3 sleeping bags in size 56 to 62
  • 3 or 4 pajamas

Initially, many infants wear clothing in sizes 50/52. However, this size will only last a few weeks, so it makes sense to deal with the next size beforehand. Feel free to take your time buying or looking at clothes & co. – this will also be an unforgettable moment for you.
