In the video for the 28th week of pregnancy on meinhaushalt.at important information and tips for pregnancy in week 28 are presented.

By now you have reached the 28th week of Pregnancy and your child is about 25 weeks old. In this week, the fetus is about 33cm tall and has reached a weight of 1kg. Although your child opens its eyes when awake, it cannot see very well yet. This is not necessary yet, and even after birth, it will only be able to see things clearly from up close – but this will also regulate itself gradually. The fetus's sense of hearing, however, is all the better; even though sounds reach it somewhat muffled through the amniotic fluid, it hears quite well.

In general, the developmental biology of your child is much more extensive than can be explained on the pages of pregnancy articles. Strictly speaking, a fascinating extent of nature is taking place in your womb, ranging from a fertilized egg, an embryo, later a fetus, to a viable human being. You will be able to hold this miracle in your hands at the latest on the day of birth.

Weight during pregnancy

Stepping on the scale is an arduous act for many pregnant women, as from now on more and more weight will be recorded. But do not fret – this weight gain is necessary because the child is now growing rapidly, and with it the uterus, your breasts, water retention, and blood volume. The uterus currently even reaches up to the mother's lungs, and from the lower edge of the pubic bone to the upper edge of the ribs, it is approximately 24cm high. Since the pleura has difficulty expanding due to the lack of space, you will often find yourself short of breath and climbing stairs will also become more difficult. Nevertheless, you do not need to worry about your child's well-being, as it is sufficiently supplied with oxygen.

Forgetfulness during pregnancy

Are you more forgetful and annoyed by it? That is not necessary: the colloquial Pregnancy brain affects many pregnant women and is related, among other things, to the hormonal change. Since this will be regulated again after the Pregnancy you do not need to worry or even try to fight it. It is better to take the situations with humor and enjoy the pregnancy; after all, no one is perfect.

Practice contractions

Practice contractions may now occur more frequently. These are the first contractions perceived by a pregnant woman during pregnancy. The muscles of the uterus contract for about half a minute to a minute, causing the pregnant woman's abdomen to harden. These contractions are usually painless and irregular. They serve only as practice. However, if you have an uneasy feeling, it is best to talk to your doctor or midwife – they will definitely have a good tip for you.

Fluid from the nipples

Another occurrence during pregnancy is the leakage of a whitish or yellowish fluid from the nipples – colostrum. Some pregnant women may notice this as small spots in their bra: this is the pre-milk, which will be your baby's first food after birth. Colostrum is rich in vitamins and antibodies and is also quite protein-rich. Usually, before birth, it is only a few drops that make themselves noticeable without any action. You can still buy nursing pads cheaply to insert into your bra. This way, your clothes will be spared from annoying stains.
