In the video for the 30th week of pregnancy on meinhaushalt.at important information and tips for pregnancy in week 30 are presented.

In the 30th week of your pregnancy the child is now 27 weeks old and has reached a total length of approx. 35cm. The weight has leveled off between 1300g and 1400g. The child feels every emotion of the mother: if you rest, your child's pulse will also drop. If you relax with some nice music, the baby will also relax. Therefore, do yourself a favor more often so that the fetus can also rest.

The head and body of your child can now be compared to those of a newborn. If the baby were to be born now, it would have very good chances of survival, as it can, for example, now control its body temperature by itself. The maximum amount of amniotic fluid has also been reached. The child is now swimming in approximately 1.2 liters of amniotic fluid.

How big is my baby?

Gradually, it is getting very tight in your belly. By the end of the 32nd week of pregnancy, the child will have reached a crown-rump length of 40cm and weigh around 2kg. The head also grows to a diameter of over 8cm. The fat pads under the skin are getting thicker, and in boys, the testicles migrate into the groin and finally into the scrotum.

If you notice pressure in your belly from time to time, don't worry. This downward pressure is known as lightening contractions. These contractions ensure that the child moves downwards and that the uterine muscles are well supplied with blood. Over the next few weeks of pregnancy, the cervix will also shorten. All of this is necessary so that your body can prepare for the upcoming birth. Lightening contractions are generally less painful, but rather uncomfortable. If you feel stronger pressure that occurs regularly, you should definitely see your doctor.

Nail polish and hair dyeing during pregnancy – yes or no?

During pregnancy many women feel the need to dress up, to appear attractive to their partner, or to do something good for themselves again. Now some pregnant women are wondering whether they can use nail polish, dye or tint their hair, and get perms as easily as before pregnancy. According to recognized studies, there is no health risk regarding nail polish. However, the frequent or regular use of acetone, phenol, or trichloroethylene, which are contained in most nail polishes or nail polish removers, is not harmless. Therefore, it is important for you and the child that you perform nail care in well-ventilated rooms or by an open window. Perhaps also pay attention to the fact that there are as few solvents as possible in the nail polishes.

The question of hair care is also controversial – midwives and hairdressers disagree about dyeing, tinting, or perming hair. If you want to be on the safe side, you should avoid dyeing your hair during pregnancy and perhaps only have highlights done. Organic or herbal products are also very popular during pregnancy. In this case, speak to your midwife or a specialized hairdresser again if you are unsure.

Packing the hospital bag

A small tip on the side: it is best to pack your hospital bag during this week of pregnancy. At the latest by the 37th week of pregnancy, it should definitely be ready and at hand just in case. In addition to comfortable tops, nursing bras, and cosmetic items, baby clothes and your maternity record should not be missing.
