Ice cream is a very delicious dessert. In grocery stores, ice cream is offered in many different flavors and sizes. But how do you store ice cream? Here we have gathered a few important pieces of information about ice cream:

Buying ice cream correctly

Ice cream must be properly chilled in the supermarket. As a customer, you should make sure that the package is below the so-called stacking mark. The ice cream should be transported in a cooler bag. If you have forgotten your cooler bag, you can also use newspaper: simply wrap the ice cream well in it.

Storing ice cream

If you want to refreeze ice cream, you should put a piece of cellophane, or plastic wrap between the lid and the ice cream. This prevents this waxy surface. Furthermore, you should make sure that the ice cream is not stored next to foods with strong odors (e.g. herbs!). Also, lukewarm dishes should not be frozen right next to it. Once the ice cream has completely thawed, it must not be refrozen.

Improve flavor

The ice cream only develops its flavor 5 to 10 minutes after being taken out of the freezer. So you should portion the ice cream quickly and immediately refreeze the rest.
