Everyone knows the feeling: you look in the mirror and are surprised by an annoying pimple right on your face. An (allegedly) very simple home remedy for pimples is toothpaste.
But before further tips against pimples are given here, a note: Except in mild cases of acne, treatment by a dermatologist is recommended!
Toothpaste for pimples
Clean your face in the evening as usual, apply moisturizer, and it is best to avoid the pimple. Now, a little toothpaste is dabbed onto the pimple. Overnight, the pimple is dried out by the toothpaste, and the next morning the face looks a bit more presentable again.
That would be the rumor.
In fact, toothpaste does not help against pimples and will never be able to cure acne – which is why reliable sources do NOT list toothpaste for the treatment of acne .
Now for another rumor... washing.
Washing against pimples
Washing too frequently damages the skin's acid mantle, and acne can worsen. Anyone who has pimples should wash their face at most twice a day with a pH-skin-neutral (pH value 5.5) skin cleanser.
Squeezing pimples doesn't help either
Blackheads and pimples should not be squeezed, because "squeezing" acne efflorescences (e.g., pus) is not a sensible alternative to drug therapy and should only be done in exceptional cases and by trained (medical) personnel. If done incorrectly, there is a risk of tissue tearing of the follicle, sometimes also enlargement of the wound, abscess formation, smear infections, or additional scarring.
In short: Squeezing pimples yourself does not help, but in most cases makes the situation worse
What helps against pimples or acne?
Actually, acne can be treated; let your dermatologist advise you. If necessary, you will probably receive medication with active ingredients from the category D10-Acne medication.
Do not try to treat with home remedies Acne, you could make things worse.

I tried it, but it didn't help at all. It's really hard to get the toothpaste off the pimple again, usually only by scrubbing hard, which totally irritates the pimple and makes it even redder, but I couldn't notice any improvement. I would advise against it.

Anyone who wants to try toothpaste for mild acne will experience the same thing. It's best to make an appointment with a dermatologist and then treat the pimples with a suitable product.
I've heard very often that aspirin helps against pimples... I wanted to try it out later.
But honey should also help.

For individual pimples, you can use proven home remedies yourself, but for real acne, you absolutely must go to the doctor.
Personally, I prefer tea tree oil. Dab the pimple with a cotton swab or clean the face with a cotton pad. Don't get too close to the eyes! It burns terribly. If you have very dry skin, you can take a moisturizing cream and mix it in your hand with 2-3 drops of tea tree oil. Then it's not as highly concentrated. Aloe vera gel also helps well..
