The Christmas season is slowly approaching and gradually people are starting to think about their annual Advent decorations.There is now a wide selection of Advent arrangements available in stores, all beautifully decorated – if only it weren't for the price. Those who don't want to go to great expense can also craft their own and, with just a few simple steps and ingredients, create a slightly different Advent wreath themselves.
Ideas for designing an Advent wreath differently
The colorful plate
It doesn't always have to be an arrangement made of fir – anyone who can't stand the constant shedding of green needles or simply wants to try something different might like this Christmas decoration.
For this you will need:
- a flat plate
- four Candles of your choice
- a little Star anise
- some cinnamon sticks
- dried orange slices or apple slices
- Christmas decorations in the shape of stars, Christmas trees, or similar
Instructions:
The plate is placed in the middle of the table and the candles are positioned as desired. Then the decoration, which can be purchased for little money in a craft store or in the craft section of a supermarket, is scattered between the candles. Depending on your choice, the star anise and cinnamon sticks are now loosely arranged between the candles. Finally, the dried orange and apple slices round off the picture.
If you want to make the fruit slices yourself, you can buy fresh fruit and cut it into loose slices. The slices are then placed on paper towels on the heater to dry – this drying process may take a few days, but at least it is homemade.Important: turn the slices over every now and then.
The slightly different Advent wreath
A wreath made of cast iron or a straw arrangement is also very rustic. I have also already seen delicate metal coils. All of them are successful alternatives that can certainly be conjured up into chic Christmas arrangements with a little traditional skill.
Since green and red simply go well with Christmas, but gold and silver are also suitable for metal arrangements, you can fall back on these accessories here. Perhaps also use for this:
What you’ll need:
- small Christmas baubles
- dried orange slices
- Star anise
- cinnamon sticks
- pine cones
- matching ribbons, which harmonize in color with the rest of the decorative items
Instructions:
This year I chose a cast-iron Advent wreath to adorn our dining table. In the middle is a metal plate that I have lined with an artificial fir garland. As can be seen in the picture, I have wound this evergreen garland into a snail shape and simply placed it on the plate. In the middle lies a hand-sized pine cone that was previously sprayed with artificial snow. Around the cone, you can now place the Christmas baubles, the dried fruit slices, and also small artificial snowballs around the fir snail. The candles find their place on the holders – and the novel Advent wreath is finished, which is quite rustic and, in my opinion, looks particularly good on wooden furniture.
Of course, the table can also simply be decorated with a wooden board or another type of base. Simply place the candles anywhere and decorate them with your desired ornaments. There are hardly any limits to the possibilities – it is important that the Advent wreath or Advent arrangement reflects your personal taste and that the decoration fits the rest of the ambiance.
