Quickly adding some fresh grated cheese over the gratin – this idea sounds tempting, but if the cheese is too soft, even the best grater is useless. The cheese gets stuck in the grater and clogs the holes. Nevertheless, you don't have to go without cheese – with a simple trick, problems can be avoided here too:
Grate soft cheese more easily
Place the piece of cheese in its packaging in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes. Thanks to the cold, the cheese is now firmer and easier to grate.
Oil the cheese grater
To prevent the cheese from sticking to the grater, brush the grater with a little cooking oil.Nice side effect:this also makes the grater much easier to clean.
