Pregnancy is a time full of joy, excitement, and confidence, but there are also moments of worry, weakness, and exhaustion. The many ups and downs make a pregnant woman's everyday life a test of endurance, so a little time out sometimes seems like a good idea. Wellness is ideal for such a break, to reduce stress, let your mind wander, and let your big baby bump sway. Nowadays, there are a number of offers for expectant mothers – but which ones are sensible and which are useful?

Wellness during pregnancy

Midwives and doctors are certainly in agreement: a pregnant woman can do whatever makes her feel good – however, anyone who wants to start using the sauna in the middle of pregnancy and has never done so before should rather not risk it. For experienced sauna-goers, however, the sauna is recommended. The muscles and the soul can relax, the immune system is activated, and water retention in the tissue is balanced out. It is no wonder that saunas are very popular with pregnant women. In the case of health problems, however, you should refrain from going to the sauna, as the strong temperature differences put too much strain on the body, which is already working at full capacity. If you are not sure whether the sauna is the right place to relax, it is a good idea to contact your doctor or midwife beforehand.

yoga

Yoga is also becoming increasingly popular among pregnant women. The combination of harmony and inner peace in connection with balanced breathing exercises and postures helps to release tension during pregnancy and to get to know your own body. The growth of the child is also experienced more intensely through the practice of yoga. Many exercises are even very helpful, as they are very similar to some birth positions. Through relaxation, breathing, and physical exercises, you also prepare the pelvis and pelvic floor, thus optimizing your body for the miracle of birth.

Massages

Massages are also frequently used by pregnant women – nothing is more relaxing than relieving tension or pain in the back and neck area. Special providers of "prenatal full-body massage" offer pampering programs that are carried out from the 5th month of pregnancy until shortly before delivery. Some applications target tension directly, while others even alleviate stretch marks. Whether this success can be recorded for every pregnant woman is questionable – a self-test should provide more insight.

Sports

Sport during pregnancy is also an excellent form of wellness. Despite the growing belly, you certainly don't have to give up sports and exercise – quite the opposite: it is an excellent contribution to the healthy development of your child and pure relaxation for the expectant mother. Whether it's a leisurely walk, a quiet bike ride, or invigorating Nordic walking – if a pregnant woman is healthy and there is no high-risk pregnancy, then exercise in the fresh air is not only ideal but also recommended. Regular physical activity stimulates circulation, reduces the risk of thrombosis and water retention, improves posture with the growing baby bump, and has a positive effect on the oxygen supply for mother and child. The idea of quiet and gentle sports is therefore not wrong, but skiing or snowboarding, inline skating, marathons, horse riding, or martial arts should rather be avoided.

Let yourself be pampered

If you just want to be pampered, a visit to the hairdresser or a manicure or pedicure can often work wonders. Thanks to their new look, many pregnant women radiate a new self-confidence. Thanks to the advice, the new styling, and the all-round care, wellness is performed to the highest art, which should be enjoyed to the fullest. Therefore, it is not wrong to pamper yourself a little now and then.
